Thanks for visiting It's Raining Books! Why do you write in your genre? What draws you to it?

My favorite books to read are sexy love stories, and the more sex in them, the better. I’ve always had an interest in writing and after a point, I thought I’d give it a shot myself. Don’t really know what draws me to it. I think erotic romance is just a part of life. Everyone is drawn to life experiences that give you pleasure. I enjoy writing it. I find it exciting. I’m kind of a control freak and being the author, I can make the book go in any direction I want.

What research is required?

I’m a stickler for accuracy in a book, whether it be geographic, historical, or otherwise. I did a great deal of legal research for Zoey’s Place. There are certain situations in the book that required it since both she and her husband are attorneys. My books also make references about news or other current events from the time period the book takes place such as movies that were playing, what was considered high tech at that specific time, popular songs, or the political situation of the time period. I think it gives the reader more of a feel for what the characters are experiencing and makes is more personal.

Usually my books take place in areas that I’ve lived in or have visited. Part of Zoey’s Place takes place in Las Vegas and Incline Village. I’ve only been to Vegas once, for a day, over 40 years ago, and I’ve never been to Incline Village. So, I depended heavily on Google Earth and images from the Internet to get my location descriptions accurate.

My friend lives in Las Vegas and helped with some of the gambler reference terminology. My ex-law enforcement friends help with that end, too.

Name one thing you learned from your hero/heroine.

Zoey DeLucca taught me that you can never give up and that you need to have confidence and faith in yourself to succeed. She also taught me the importance of family who are sometimes not related by blood. That’s two but they’re both very important.

Do you have any odd or interesting writing quirks, habits or superstitions?

My time is limited for writing so I have to be ready to write at a moment’s notice. I have no time for quirks or habits. Even though I’m very superstitious. I interpret almost everything as some sort of sign. There are none connected to my writing. My only habit would be that my sister is always the first person to read my books, usually chapter by chapter as I complete them. She’s very particular and if she likes it, I continue. Other than that, I just let the inner me flow.

Are you a plotter or pantser?

I’m a little of both. When I start a book, I usually begin with a story line and a general idea of what characters will be in the book and what I want to accomplish by the end of the story. But as far as planning all the action that will take place between point A and point B is up for grabs. My tales take on a life of their own. The plot plays out like a movie in my mind. Being the author gives me the flexibility to change the storyline or the character as needed. During the writing of Zoey’s Place, I was stuck in one situation for about a week until I figured out how Zoey was going to make it through.

Look to your right – what’s sitting there?

Currently it’s my dog who is giving me the “Is it dinner time?” look. On the desk is the stack of bills that need to be paid and the payroll that needs to be run before tomorrow morning. Next to that is the empty plate from the eggplant casserole I had for lunch and the empty mug from my morning tea. Buried under the stack of bills is the birthday card I need to sign for my sister.

Anything new coming up from you? What?

At the urging of my friends, I’m considering writing a story based in the little western town I live in but it will place in the late 1800’s. There are some very unique personalities that live in our little community. Our population is only 500 at most. We are situated at the base of the Beartooth Mountain Range of the Rocky Mountains and there is a great deal of history here. It will, of course, be an erotic novel with a hard-headed, strong-minded woman in charge. She will stand out for sure but that might add some of the challenge and flavor to the story. I’ve already got the title, “Queen of Clark.”

Do you have a question for our readers?

Yes. Do you leave book reviews? I’d like to stress the importance of reader reviews. Book companies, including Amazon, look at these numbers and the comments. Goodreads readers depend on them. And most of all, authors need to know if they are doing a good job. Please take the time to write a review. If you liked it, let others know. If you didn’t then say so. The majority of writers will never get rich from royalties but the reward of a good review is priceless.

Thank you “It’s Raining Books” for hosting my Zoey’s Place virtual book tour stop. I hope your readers enjoy my answers and that they entice some new readers to get a copy of Zoey’s Place.

Zoey DeLucca is a successful Michigan divorce attorney. Growing up the center of a bitter custody battle between her neglectful mother and her caring father convinced her to become a Family Law attorney and champion the father’s that seldom won in court.

Her handsome husband, Mickey, works for an oil development company. The money is great but as he climbs the corporate ladder, he must spend more time traveling and away from home.

It was love at first sight when they met in college. Their storybook marriage is the envy of all of their friends. They keep the spark in their marriage glowing red hot with wild, uninhibited behaviors in the bedroom. So why does the feeling of impending doom occupy Zoey’s thoughts?

Zoey’s Place is a modern erotic romance about bonding friendships and life’s lessons. See how Zoey handles the challenges that come her way. Experience her joys, fears, and unusual solutions.

This book contains explicit sex scenes and very mature subject matter. It is intended for adult pleasures only. So, turn on the fan, because it’s going to get hot!

Sparks of electric energy surged between them as the rhythmic tempo of their love play created a sweet melody of passion and desire, building until the thunder of their orgasms drained them of their strength.

Through the years of marriage they always kept the spark of excitement alive in the bedroom. Both were still adventurous and, between the two of them, it was just about anything goes. If they liked it, they added it to their repertoire. If they didn’t, it was a one-time deal. They had tried almost all the positions of the Kama Sutra. Some they passed on because it seemed that only contortionists could get into the twisted positions. They experimented with toys of all kinds, a little SMDS, role-playing, and porn.

About the Author:
E.M. Bannock grew up in the Detroit suburbs. She is the second child of seven and eldest daughter of a working class family. Her parents had traditional, old style, European ideals which clashed with her modern, adventurous personality. The daughters were not encouraged to attend college. Instead they were expected to get married, have children, and be homemakers.

Her father was a great storyteller and sparked her love for writing. In high school she enjoyed writing short stories and poetry. A small inheritance from her father gave her the funds needed to begin her career as a published author. She has published two books, Totally Devoted, which is also available in audio, and Zoey’s Place.

Born with the wanderlust, she found herself in Los Angeles. LA was an exciting place to be in the early 70’s and she experienced all that it had to offer. She met her husband there.

Marie and her small family have lived in California, Oregon, Alaska, Florida, and Wyoming, where she now lives with her small family which includes a spoiled dog and cat, two horses, also spoiled, and a brood of chickens that live like queens in the chicken-coupe-de-ville.

She has made her living as an office manager, computer programmer/analysts, project manager, clothing sales person, substitute teacher, and buffalo meat packer. Throughout it all, she never lost her love for writing.

E.M. Bannock is a Goodreads Author, a BookHub Author, a member of the Romance Writers of America, and a Rocky Mountain Fiction Writer. Her book, “Totally Devoted” is a finalist for a 2019 NERFA (National Excellence in Romance Fiction Award) in two categories.
