I’ll start with the normal stuff. I mean I’m just the average person so I can’t really think of much interesting about myself, but here are a few items you might not know.
I’m an avid nature photographer. I love hiking through parks and the countryside to photograph landscapes, flowers, old barns or whatever I come across. I’ve made a few crazy hikes to get to a waterfall or lake that’s hiding in the wilderness just to get that perfect photo. On weekends I’m often up before dawn so I can drive somewhere to get an awesome sunrise. Although they don’t happen as often as you might think. Seems like it would be easier to get a sunset, but I’m always after the sunrise. There is something special about the sun shining across a still lake.
Next I’m insanely crazy about the Mazda Miata. I have a second generation that still looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor and that would have been eighteen years ago. Once the temperature hits 55 or above in the morning, the top goes down and I’m on the road. It stays down all summer except for those days when it gets above 98. There’s nothing more fun than hitting the roads of West Virginia with a group of ten or fifteen other Miatas and flying around corners. Last year I drove down to Deals Gap, NC just to drive the Tail of the Dragon with six hundred other Miata owners. There’s something fun about driving the country's most dangerous road as fast as you can. Yes, there were several accidents, but I made it home without a scratch.
My favorite genre to read isn’t urban fantasy, but a good cozy mystery. These cozies, though, are how I found my way to urban fantasy. I read a few that featured ghosts that either helped solve the mystery or were part of the mystery. I quickly went from ghosts to fae, and then vampires. But on a rainy afternoon I still go back for a good cozy mystery.
I’m a HUGE Pink Floyd fan. I have everything Pink Floyd from Dark Side of the Moon flip flops to playing cards. Although my wife won’t let me hang my posters, I still have a number rolled up just in case she changes her mind. Even my license plate is a variant of Pink Floyd. You would never imagine how many people comment on it at red lights, gas stations or any place I stop. I saw The Wall in 1980, then Pink Floyd minus Roger Waters in 1994, and Roger Waters performing The Wall in 2010. Since Pink Floyd is no longer touring, I try to catch The Australian Pink Floyd or Brit Floyd any time they are within driving distance. Both bands are amazing.
This one is embarrassing and my kids and wife find no end to the amount of entertainment they get from it. I’m without doubt the world's clumsiest person. I’ve broken my little toe walking into things more times than I can count. I don’t even bother going to the doctor anymore, just tape it to the next toe and wait. I’ve cracked most of my ribs falling into things at different times. Then the funniest to my family is when I fall up the stairs. Although they find falling down equally amusing. I blame it on my astigmatism. Which just adds to their entertainment.
So that’s it five things people might not know about me.
A frantic middle of the night call jolts Gerry from his quiet, but lonely life, back into a world fraught with dangerous creatures of the night. Erin's frenzied call leads Gerry across the country where he finds himself immersed in the luxuries of Beverly Hills and the seedier side of the Hollywood strip.
Sadness and longing grip him as he finds a blood-spattered room and Erin is nowhere to be found.
Alone in a strange city with nothing to go on can Gerry find and save Erin? Or is this the end of something never meant to be?
Her past has caught up with her and he's her only hope.
With a group of trusted friends Gerry takes on the impossible and gives everything to save Erin.
Beverly Hills Torture is the second novel in the Erin Kingsly series. Be sure to check out Capital Thirst.

As he stood there staring, he couldn’t accept that Erin was gone. Now he was the sole person who could save her. Turning, he left his thoughts of Erin behind with the house. He started down over the grass, with no specific destination in mind. He just wanted to wander with his thoughts, trying to clear his mind and determine what the next course of action was.
He couldn’t do anything until Vernon arrived. He hoped Vernon would have some insight about what was going on. These were his people.
Whatever was going on was serious. A life and death matter. The way her bedroom appeared told him that much. Whoever took her wasn’t messing around.
Before Gerry could return to his thoughts, he ran out of lawn. A wrought-iron fence lined with towering, thin cypress trees blocked his path. The fence itself was about ten feet high. “So, there is a limit to her property,” he said out loud.
“Helloooo?” A woman’s voice broke through Gerry’s thoughts like an ice pick splitting a block of ice. “Is someone there?”
About the Author: I love a good paranormal read, something about the un-dead haunts the fringes of my mind. Mix in romance, love, loss, and you have a great story.
I voraciously read everything, fiction, and non-fiction but always find myself turning back to the darker stories. I’ve always wanted to write and the dream became a reality with Capital Thirst, and the remainder of the Erin Kingsly novels.
I spend most of my days designing and building websites, but my free time is devoted to my wife, family, and cats. Yes three grown children and three cats. Things can be hectic.
For fun you might find me driving winding roads with the top down or out photographing nature.

ReplyDeleteHi, I'm a little late getting to post today, but I wanted to say thank you for hosting me and Beverly Hills Torture today. It's very much appreciated.
ReplyDeleteAn interesting list of 5. I hate driving fast.
ReplyDeleteYou right driving fast when there are lots of cars around is no fun at all, but if you are the only car on the road, or even better on a track, there's nothing better.
DeleteThank you for sharing your book with us. I always look forward to finding out about another great read.
