Top Ten Tuesday: Books Still on My Shelf Unread

Top Ten Books That Have Been On My Shelf For The Longest But I've Never Read

I have to hang my head in shame to admit there are a LOT of books on my shelf I've not yet read...not because I don't want to, but... so many books, so little time. So, instead of "top" ten...here are ten books randomly chosen:

1. Infinity by Sherrilyn Kenyon. I didn't even remember having this book ON my shelf, but I can't have had it THAT long, since it just came out last year. I've pulled it down now, though. It looks GOOD!! I think I got it at a librarian's conference last year where I had the honor to meet Sherrilyn and have lunch with her (she's a doll, btw).

2. Memory of a Murder by Earl Staggs. This one I HAVE had a long time--Earl and I were both members of a writing loop a long time ago. :::waves to Earl:::

3. Irish Born by Nora Roberts. This was a gift, not because of the author, but because I'm a lover of all things Irish. One day, I'll get around to reading this one as well.

4. Cast in Chaos by Michelle Sagara. I have no idea where I got this one, but I love fantasy, so I'm sure I've picked it up somewhere :-)

5. Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin. I got this book, intending to read the series before watching it on television... I've not had the time to read OR watch the show!!

6. Lost and Found by Carolyn Parkhurst. I LOVED the cover of this book. The back cover blurb caught my attention as well.

7. On Off by Colleen McCullough. I loved The Thorn Birds, so when I had the chance to grab another book by the same author, I couldn't turn it down.

8. Pawing Through the Past by Rita Mae Brown. I've heard a lot of good things about this series...but there are too many series!! *sigh*

9. This Body of Death by Elizabeth George. I LOVE Inspector Lynley...another book that is NOT going back on my shelf, but being added to the ever-growing pile next to my bed.

10. Hades' Daughter by Sara Douglass. Another first book of a series I have waiting for me. Sigh....

I need to do nothing but read for the rest of the year... do you suppose my boss will mind??

Do you have any other books I can add to my list?

  1. Interesting list - A Game of Thrones was really good!

  2. I keep hearing good things about Game of Thrones but I haven't had the chance to pick it up either.

  3. Lol-I have some of these, too. Read A Game of Thrones. It's excellent. You will just start hating on GRRM because he will never be able to write fast enough to satisfy his readers!

  4. I want to read the Game of Thrones, but can't decide when I want to devote time to the behemoth series.

  5. I know that's what everyone's commenting on, but Game of Thrones has also been on my TBR for a while. I'll also throw a plug in for Nora Roberts, though. I started reading her about 12 years ago and while some books are better than others (as with any author), I think she writes very well. Hope you enjoy it when you get around to it!

  6. I plan to read Game of Thrones before season 2 starts on the telly...
Here’s my Top Ten Tuesday post. :)

  7. I keep hearing all the good things about Game of Thrones too :))
Like the look of Infinity and Cast in Chaos!

  8. GoT is the only one of your list I've read and... I may be the only one around who enjoys the series but without a passion. You may want to wait until the whole series is out before you start reading -- waiting for the next book is awful (and while I say this I still have 2 books to go)

  9. The only one on your list that I've read is Game of Thrones. I read because of all the hype. It is quite lengthy but reads pretty fast. My "complaint" would be that I've heard the series (of books) hasn't really resolved anything and it just continues with its "potboiling" ad infinitum...

  10. I've read the Game of Thrones, it was pretty awesome, you should definitely read that, but I haven't read the others on your list.

  11. I bought the Game of Thrones recently because everyone has been talking about the show. I haven't read it or watched the show either!

Infinity was a wonderful book, though I haven't read the sequel yet. It's still sitting in my TBR. If you've read the adult series it will be easier to follow along at first, otherwise it does take some time to familiarize yourself with the world.

I hadn't heard of this one by Colleen McCullough, but I've read three of her books, so I'm headed to Amazon to add this one to my TBR shelves. Thanks!

Great list! Happy (hopefully soon-to-be) Reading!

  13. I have a goodly handful of books to choose from to read but little time. I only have one book on my pile that always gets shifted to the bottom. I just never seem to want to read it with the large availability of other great books. Thanks for stopping by my blog.

  14. A Game of Thrones was quite a book to consume at first, but it was definitely worth reading it before I watched the series! I hope you find time to read it soon :)

  17. I've read Infinity, and it's a cute book! I really want to read A Game of Thrones, but that book is LONG. I get intimidated by long books...

Thanks for stopping by my blog earlier. Your blog is very nice!

  19. *stutters* You've.....you've actually....... *stutters some more* I cannot believe you've met Sherrilyn Kenyon!!!! I have a MAJOR case of envy right now! I love her book--simply adore them. You totally have to read the Chronicles of Nick series. I've read both books and think they're fantastic!

Thanks for stopping by and I'm a new follower =)

  21. Game of Thrones is an absolute must-read! You'll love it - it's intense :)

  22. I've never heard of On Off, but this reminds me that The Thorn Birds probably should have been on my list, too. I can't remember when I didn't have it, but I still haven't gotten a chance to read it!

  23. OK, you have to either read Game of Thrones or watch the show. Just do one of them! It's a great story, just get to know it any way you can.

  24. I loved Infinity! Some people who haven't read the Dark-Hunters have been a bit thrown by some of the references though. Especially to Simi - she's definitely unique!

Thanks for stopping by Project to be Read :)

  25. Infinity was on my list too. It does look good and I can't wait to start it soon. I think I'm saving the list I created to kick off the new year with.
Thanks for dropping by my blog. Sorry it took me a few days to return the visit.
Hope you have a great weekend! :)

  26. Oh my gosh, I'm so jealous that you haven't read A Game of Thrones yet. Only because you're in for a treat! I love, love, love that book. Hope you manage to find the time to read it soon! The tv series is pretty good too.
