You know who he is... the confirmed bachelor. The fellow who claims no woman will ever tempt him enough to succumb. Cupid will never hit his mark.

Well, guess what? We’ve got fourteen feisty heroines who are about to change their minds.

At thirty-five, Mitchell Pierce has everything he’s ever wanted. An award-winning architect with his own firm, he collects expensive cars, owns a luxury ocean-front home, and a vacation condo on San Padre Island.

The only thing intruding on his idyllic life is the realization that the majority of his closest friends have married, and had children, which seriously impacts his Sunday football parties with the guys.

Haley Charles is the newly hired project manager at Pierce and McKenna, Architects, one of the city’s most prestigious firms. At twenty-eight, she’s the youngest member of the management team, and determined to make a good impression on the bosses.

When a rush request comes in from one of the firms most valued clients, Mitch has to cover for his honeymooning partner. With the majority of the staff already assigned to ongoing jobs, he finds himself working overtime with the new, and disturbingly attractive, project manager.

Will the late nights and a few shared kisses have him rethinking his bachelor status? Or, is he truly going to be ‘the last man standing’?

Read an Excerpt

Mitch let himself into the office the next morning a few minutes past six. As expected, he was the first one in, other than one or two of the catering staff.

He relished the peace and quiet of an empty office, which was one of the reasons he usually worked late. However, last night, he’d had commitments. Actually, a date. Amber Pattison, his on-again, off-again dinner companion who—like him—had no interest in taking their casual evenings any further than simple conversation over a shared meal with friends. She was safe. No threat whatsoever to his avowed bachelor status.

Just the way he liked it.

In other words... pretty on your arm, but nothing more than good friends.

Mitch silently willed his annoying inner voice back into its allotted corner of his mind. The pesky thing refused to yield.

Oh, and she’s not a feisty redhead who makes your heart race.

A few minutes before eight, Mitch rolled up the first preliminary blueprints and slid them into the storage tube. He was about to go in search of his project manager, when a light tap sounded at his office door.

“Come in,” he called out absently, his mind already sorting out the few things he wanted his admin to handle in his absence. “Clarice, if you wouldn’t mind—”

His words stopped mid-thought when Haley stepped through the door. Dressed in a pair of faded jeans, fitted black shirt, and a pair of red rubber boots adorned with yellow ducks, she set his senses on overdrive. He swallowed back a lump the size of the Grand Canyon and then said, “Sorry, I thought you were my admin.”

“She’s getting coffee, I think. I can come back, if you’re not ready to leave.”

“I’m ready. If we don’t pass Clarice on the way out, I can text her what I need.”

“Is there anything, other than my trusty electronic notepad, you need me to bring?”

“Just yourself, and those snazzy rubber boots.”

She shot him a coy smile and made an obvious point of wiggling her foot from side-to-side to show off the fact that the ducks had plastic googly eyes. “I bought my niece a pair of these last summer when she came for a visit. She insisted I get a pair for myself. I honestly never thought I’d have a chance to wear them. But... here I am... killing this silly style.”

“That you are, Miss Charles. That you are.”
