Mayhem in the Air is the second, long-awaited story collection from the dynamic and inventive Untethered Realms group.

Read an exclusive excerpt from "Saving Scrooge" by Gwen Gardner: Marley was absorbed in thought as he waited for Newman’s departure. He wondered what Heaven would be like when he finally made it. Maybe it would be a touch boring, but he’d heard they had excellent wine. Hell, who was he kidding? The first thing he’d do was sign up for reincarnation. Get back into the game of life. Women, wine, and…

“I’m ready, sir.” Newman appeared at his elbow. Dressed in black from head to toe in a hooded cloak, he was an impressive figure. He’d even gotten the attention of the unnaturals, the not-quite-human-anymore mutants that lurked in dark corners, skulking through the Netherworld on the periphery, up to who knew what.

“Right. You look the part, Mr., uh, Just Newman. Perfect.” Marley patted his shoulders and pulled the hood forward so that it appeared Newman had no face. “Now remember. Don’t say a word. Scrooge won’t know what to do if he can’t use his words.” He turned away, but then remembered something. “See what you can do about that ugly-arse nightcap, too, why don’t you. This is an intervention after all.”

Newman’s lip twitched but he didn’t smile. “Yes, sir.”
