To Listen of the Lord's Jesus Christ Voice, Holy Spirit by F. Dumanjug

This post is part of a virtual book tour organized by Goddess Fish Promotions. F. Dumanjug will be awarding a $15 Amazon/BN GC to a randomly drawn winner via rafflecopter during the tour. Click on the tour banner to see the other stops on the tour.

My encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, came with his all plans, instructions, and directions about this project. It is all perfect for me. Says the Lord, "You will write a book from your journal." The Lord says, "I can't wait to have people get that book." The Lord wants to reach out to people around the globe, to return to him, with repentance, and believe and accept him by faith in order to be saved by his grace and mercy, that the Lord Jesus is a true living God, and his spirit live within us. The Lord said, "This book, I will make it happen, and it will be done."

My childhood has been very difficult, not knowing what my future holds in life. Almighty God gave me guidance, and he allowed me to do what I needed to do according to my plan in life. But not with God's plan. Living in Australia has given me opportunity to achieve my goal in life. When I reached the point of perception in life, the Lord Jesus Christ gave me a free will, which I should follow. The worldly living is only for today and now, or I can choose to follow Christ for eternal life after earth with rewards in heaven. The breath of the Almighty gives me life, and new creation.

Isaiah 55: 9: "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts." I live in Christ right now, I don't make decision for myself, I consult the Lord Jesus and depend on him for what the Holy Spirit wants me to do. To glorify the Lord our heavenly Father, amen!

Such as Behold I am coming soon! just a matter of time! keep looking up! be ready for a wedding banquet is being prepared for his people! It won't be long now! Anyone makes sure you don't miss it! The Lord Jesus is waiting for the last souls. But won't be forever! because there's a time due!

Decide now, tomorrow will be too late.

SEEKING THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH

Jesus says, I am the way, and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (John 14:6) When I read those pages I thought of my family, how we were deceived by false teaching. I couldn’t wait to share this with my mother. However, when I decided to talk to her about the worship of idols, she became upset and did not believe what I said. I encouraged my mother not to keep those saint statues at her house. She responded, why do the priests in church have to worship them, if that’s not true. It was all twisted and had been growing throughout her life. The Catholic Church didn’t want us to read the Bible when we were young, and I was not taught to read it. I kept on reading the Holy Bible until it was brought into my mind that my life experience had been based on the Bible I was reading. Amen! Do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men. (1 Corinthians 6:9) I said, this is not a coincidence. Whenever I read the Bible it made sense to me, and I felt the Bible was talking about my life experience. I felt shame and disgrace. My lust of this world began drifting away. I had lived in darkness and been corrupted by Satan’s influence. I asked myself, is it worth it to humble my soul, or to keep living my life as it is now? Just for today? I said, it must stop, now. I sought the Lord, despite my trouble. I continued praying, worshiping God, Jesus Christ, our Heavenly Father. I knelt before God, asked for forgiveness desperately. But seek first his kingdom and righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. (Matthew 6:33)

“Mrs. Dowland, might we save the rest of the tour for another time? My wife and I are rather fatigued and wish to retire until dinner.”

“Of course, Captain. The master bedroom is just here.” She opened the door behind them onto a large bedchamber, the main component being a massive four-poster oak bed jutting majestically into the center of the room. The covers and bedcurtains were again in masculine colors of maroon and blue, and the walls papered in a dark floral paisley that Emma loved on sight. “I see Buckleigh and James have put your things there.” She motioned to their trunks. “I’ll make sure you are undisturbed until the dinner gong sounds. Do you prefer to dine at seven or eight o’clock?”

“Eight,” Alex replied quickly. “Thank you, Mrs. Dowland. You’ve been a great help. That will be all for now.”

“Very good, Captain.” With one last nod and a hint of a smile, Mrs. Dowland left, pulling the door closed.

“At last. I thought she’d never leave.” Alex turned to Emma, pulled her close, and sank his mouth down on hers.

When they finally came up for air, Emma’s head was whirling. “I thought you said we needed to rest.”

“I said we needed to retire.” He’d already begun pulling at his cravat, his gaze darkening when it fell on her. “Are you tired, my love?” Unbuttoning his jacket in record speed, Alex stripped it from his body and tossed it over his shoulder. “Do you need rest…or something else, perhaps?”

“B…but it’s still daylight.” She’d always assumed for some reason that marital relations were relegated to the hours of darkness, perhaps because they were too intimate to be done in the light of day. Maybe she’d been wrong about that.

The Babel Apocalypse by Dr. Vyvyan Evans

This post is part of a virtual book tour organized by Goddess Fish Promotions. The author will be awarding a physical paperback copy of the book (available internationally) to a randomly drawn commenter. Click on the tour banner to see the other stops on the tour.

Why do you write in your genre? What draws you to it?

I write in science fiction, the literary genre of ideas. Science fiction has a long and illustrious habit of predicting the future. In 1940, with his first in the Robot series of stories, Isaac Asimov predicted some of the ethical issues that would arise as artificial intelligence comes to have a more pervasive influence in our daily lives.

Today in the twentieth first century, we are on the brink of a Fourth Industrial Revolution, sometimes dubbed 4IR. This is where automation and connectivity, via the internet, will dramatically alter the way in which we interact with each other, as well as everything around us, in our increasingly joined-up technological environment. And I predict, in less than one hundred years from now, this new technology will transform many aspects of our daily lives that we currently take for granted, including language itself.

Indeed, in 2015, many of the world’s leading scientists warned, in an Open Letter and accompanying report, against the new dangers of AI, as a consequence of 4IR. This Open Letter was issued in response to new breakthroughs in AI that, without adequate control, might pose short and long-term existential threats to humans.

But potential dangers come not just from the use of AI, in the sense of, for instance, The Terminator series of movies, in which AI seeks to wage war and destroy humans. New implantable devices, that will enhance how we as humans can interact with our new tech-landscape, will also give rise to potential dangers. Language is, arguably, the single trait that is the hallmark of what it is to be human. And yet, in the near-future, language-chipped humans, or ‘transhumans’, will have enhanced abilities that bring new opportunities, as well as ethical challenges and even threats.

These challenges and dangers are what are predicted in my new book, The Babel Apocalypse. The novel warns of the dangers of humans giving up on language, quite literally having something akin to ChatGPT in our heads. When lose language, humanity loses.

What research or world-building is required?

I have a background in linguistics and cognitive science, with a PhD from Georgetown University and having worked for many years as a professor of linguistics. In The Babel Apocalypse, I explore one possible future for language, if the current research trajectory continues, and we no longer learn language it, but stream direct to neural implants in our heads.

I find science fiction to be appealing as a genre, as it really is an advantage to be a subject matter expert. To write convincingly, especially in so-called ‘hard’ science fiction, such as The Babel Apocalypse, which strives for scientific accuracy, it is important to have relevant background in the story and the ideas being conveyed. And it seems to me that this cannot be adequately replicated without some meaningful level of expertise.

Name one thing you learned from your hero/heroine.

There are two main protagonists in the book, a male and female. But the standout character has to be the heroine, Professor Ebba Black, an heiress, hacker extraordinaire, and someone who may be behind the mysterious Babel cyberterrorism organization. She is one-badass.

I’ve learned from her that you can be a high-functioning sociopath with psychopathic tendencies, and still be fundamentally good, and try to things that make a difference. For Ebba that means trying to restore language to humanity.

Do you have any odd or interesting writing quirks, habits or superstitions?

My best ideas come to me either when I’m in the shower, or out for a run, when I have nothing to write them down with. It’s then a race against time to get access to a pen and paper, or a smart device, to write out the ideas before they disappear.

Are you a plotter or pantser?

I’m a bit of both. I plot and then pants within the outline plot, reworking ideas many times, cutting, adding, revising. The Babel Apocalypse first took form in 2019, but it’s been almost four years of work to achieve the finished work that I wanted.

Look to your right – what’s sitting there?

An open suitcase.

Anything new coming up from you? What?

The Babel Apocalypse is the first book in the Songs of the Sage book series. There are six projected books in the series which, in increasing turns, examine the role and nature of language, and communication. The thematic premise is that, in the wrong hands, language can serve as a weapon of mass destruction. This overarching motif is explored, across the six books, both from Earth-bound and galaxy-wide bases.

As language involves symbol use and processing, the book series, perhaps naturally, also dwells on other aspects of human imagination and symbolic behavior, including religious experience and belief systems, themselves made possible by language.

The second book in the series, The Dark Court, is set five years after the events of the great language outage depicted in The Babel Apocalypse. It explores how the language chips in people’s heads can themselves be hacked, leading to a global insomnia pandemic. The Dark Court will be published in 2024, as book 2 in the series.

Do you have a question for our readers?

Do you have a favorite science fiction book? And what makes it so special?

Language is no longer learned, but streamed to neural implants regulated by lang-laws. Those who can't afford language streaming services are feral, living on the fringes of society. Big tech corporations control language, the world’s most valuable commodity.

But when a massive cyberattack causes a global language outage, catastrophe looms.

Europol detective Emyr Morgan is assigned to the case. His prime suspect is Professor Ebba Black, the last native speaker of language in the automated world, and leader of the Babel cyberterrorist organization. But Emyr soon learns that in a world of corporate power, where those who control language control everything, all is not as it seems.

As he and Ebba collide, Emyr faces an existential dilemma between loyalty and betrayal, when everything he once believed in is called into question. To prevent the imminent collapse of civilization and a global war between the great federations, he must figure out friend from foe—his life depends on it. And with the odds stacked against him, he must find a way to stop the Babel Apocalypse.

As I was about to glance back at the voices, a light flickered in my peripheral vision, drawing my gaze upward to the night sky. A soft white glow, high up in the dark. At first it was indistinguishable from the airway lights. But it persisted, the size of a small disk at first, before shifting to red-orange, getting larger. At that point I realized it definitely couldn’t be a hover car. This was farther up, probably low Earth orbit, which explained the initial white. But the shift in coloration—that meant a detonation, producing nitrogen dioxide, which turned deep orange when mixed with air. A gaseous cloud has reached the atmosphere, I thought. I was witnessing a chemical explosion in space large enough to be visible to the naked eye. But what was exploding?

As I continued looking up, the orange grew in intensity until it flared across the skyline, illuminating the entire landscape around me with an eerie red-orange. It was only then that I became aware of the newly hushed silence of the drunken revelers nearby. And the silhouettes of other people too, who had also stopped and peppered the pedestrian corridor. We were all now strange red creatures, watching transfixed in rapt silence as the night sky was on fire. And just as suddenly as it had appeared, it was gone; the orange light faded back into a deep well of pitch black.

***Special Anniversary Edition With Bonus Story: Walker’s Love Connection***

Eighteen-year-old Myla Lewis is a girl who loves two things: kicking ass and kicking ass. She’s not your every day quasi-demon, part-demon and part-human, girl.

For the past five years, Myla has lived for the days she gets to fight in Purgatory’s arena. When souls want a trial by combat for their right to enter Heaven or Hell, they go up against her, and she hasn’t lost a battle yet. But as she starts her senior year at Purgatory High, the arena fights aren’t enough to keep her spirits up anymore. When the demons start to act weird, even for demons, and the King of the Demons, Armageddon, shows up at Myla’s school, she knows that things are changing and it’s not looking good for the quasi-demons.

Myla starts to question everything, and doesn’t like the answers she finds.

What happened seventeen years ago that turned the quasi-demons into slave labor? Why was her mom always so sad? And why won’t anyone tell her who her father is? Things heat up when Myla meets Lincoln, the High Prince of the Thrax, a super sexy part-human and part-angel demon hunter. But what’s a quasi-demon girl to do when she falls for a demon hunter? It’s a good thing that Myla’s not afraid of breaking a few rules. With a love worth fighting for, Myla’s going to shake up Purgatory.

It’s been one month, three days, and six hours since I last ‘got my gladiator on’ and battled in the Arena. Not that I’m obsessing or anything. Sure, I can sneak in and watch someone else fight, but that’s a snore.

I roll over on my dingy bed, scooch under the drab covers, and watch the gray drizzle outside my window. Mondays are the pits.

Mom’s voice echoes into my bedroom. “Time to get up! You don’t want to be late for school, do you, honey?”

I roll my eyes. Of course, I want to be late for school.

Raising my head, I open my mouth to say just that, and then decide against it. Instead, I bite my lower lip, yank the pillow over my head and groan. Loudly.

“Don’t make noises at me, young lady.” Mom rustles papers in the kitchen. “I’ve a letter right here. You’re on something called the Official Watch List for Unreasonable Tardiness.” Her footsteps echo down the hall and pause outside my room. “You’ll be suspended from high school at this rate. What do you think about that?”

I peep out from under my pillow. Mom looms in my doorway, her fist set on her hip. She’s a quasi-demon like me, so she resembles a lovely human with a curvy figure, amber skin, chocolate-brown eyes, and chestnut hair that falls in waves over her shoulders. All quasis have a tail; Mom and I both sport the long and pointed variety. The big differences between us are laugh lines, some grey hair and our opinion of what’s ‘dangerous’ for eighteen-year olds.

I fluff the pillow and slide it under my noggin. Being suspended means no school. Maybe even catching a few Arena matches on the sly. I wag my eyebrows. “And suspension would be bad because?”

“I’d make it that way.”

Ugh. She would, too.

Unwillable by Jackie M. Stebbins

Five Things You Might Not Know About Jackie M. Stebbins

As I write this, I have long, dark hair, and I love wearing a lot of makeup. My favorite lipstick is bright red. My favorite color is purple and I wear a lot of hot pink. And I’m thrilled when I get to wear a fancy black dress. Growing up, I had very short hair and in the early nineties, it was even spiked. For many years before I went to school, I wore a dirty, red, baseball cap that said, “Tom’s Auto Body.” That hat went everywhere I did. People routinely mistook me for a boy.

As a teenager, many of my friends had crushes on teeny-bop, heartthrob, young guys. I only had an interest in more senior men. I was infatuated with Tommy Lee Jones and many other older male actors. In high school, I still dug older men. It became the running joke that I’d try my hand at dating by going to the nursing home. Just as I graduated from high school, I met the man I love, one of the only guys I ever dated. He’s only two years older than me and we’re happily married.

I grew up in a small town. There were many red Pontiacs at our high school and knowing who was in what car was important (for parties!), so I began memorizing license plates. In our town of one thousand people, give or take, I knew a lot of people’s license plates. As I write this, I’m pretty sure I know my own license plate, but I’m not sure if I could tell you what the plates are on the family van.

Growing up, I had one big dream: to become a powerful, fancy lawyer, who drove a shiny, purple BMW. It was all I ever thought of after reading my first John Grisham book in fifth grade. I worked tirelessly and followed that dream, although I never purchased a (shiny purple?!) BMW. I only detoured from my pursuit of being a lawyer twice, and both times were in high school. I wanted to be in the FBI and that road led me back to becoming a lawyer. I also wanted to become a motivational speaker, but my mom told me I first needed a career and a special or inspirational story. When I was struck by autoimmune encephalitis in 2018, it upended my life and I lost my career. But as I began to recover, I heard my mother’s words from all those years ago, and said, “Eureka! I have both now!” Today, I’m an author and motivational speaker.

Since college, I’ve been the (self-proclaimed) biggest Elton John super-fan (if you’ve read my memoir, Unwillable, this is not a surprise to you). I’ve seen him in concert four times, including in my hometown of Bismarck, North Dakota, in 2010, where I was right up front, and we fist bumped after his encore! It was absolutely amazing and a friend of mine caught the moment on camera. What I remember the most, besides how he just looked down and popped my fist, was that his shoes were full of bling.

“Jackie Stebbins’ UNWILLABLE is an inspiring story of a brilliant woman’s battle with autoimmune encephalitis and the circle of support--from loving family members to dedicated physicians--who helped guide her through a hard-won recovery. Her story is as moving as it is important and is destined to help so many others facing this condition.”

Susannah Cahalan author of NYT #1 Bestseller Brain on Fire

I remember the moment it hit. It was like the physical feeling of lightning striking me and an earthquake ripping through me all at once. It had an instantaneous feeling of terror and destruction. The explosion started in my brain and reverberated through my entire body. It caught and spread like wildfire.

It is my memory that I sat upright in bed when it felt like the lightning bolt struck my head. My hands and arms immediately started to fly wildly and uncontrollably all over the place, as if I was trying to brace myself while the earthquake tore through me. For just a second, I wanted to scream out for help, but I couldn’t. I peed my pants. And after that, it all goes black.

The memory I have is only an instant long, but I can still feel the desire to scream. I can feel my arms moving so rapidly and uncontrollably that they are almost screaming out too. It is the worst of all the nightmares, all the terrors, and all the episodes I had in that bed for those seven months, in a few split seconds.

When trying to get pregnant, having good quality eggs will enhance your odds. After all, a good quality egg helps make a good quality embryo. The egg’s DNA makes up half of the embryo’s genetic material, and if merged with a poorer quality sperm, a healthy egg has the ability to repair some damaged sperm DNA. The egg is also responsible for providing the majority of cellular energy to the embryo for those earliest days of development. Therefore, a good quality egg needs to have healthy, intact DNA and chromosomes, and enough energy to sustain the initial stages of embryo growth.

Younger eggs, such as those ovulated in a person’s twenties, are typically better quality because our younger cells have greater energy-producing capabilities and are more efficient at repairing damage. These cellular processes become less precise and efficient as we age, and the ovaries age much sooner than we’d like, affecting egg quality as early as our mid-thirties. To the ovaries, these are the last years before retirement. Egg quality starts to dip between the ages of thirty-five and thirty-seven, and by thirty-eight, those eggs are fighting major biological challenges including having less energy, being prone to more DNA damage, and having problems replicating and repairing DNA.

Darkness is gnawing at my soul. The shadows swallow me a little more each day. But someone needs to destroy Elana Elidi. And I may be the only one who can. There’s a spell to stop her from destroying the remaining Ordulls. But it requires a sacrifice from my true love. The problem is—who does my heart belong to—Jadox or Isaac?

Terrified of making any sudden movements, I crossed the room at a snail’s pace. Kyra patted the floor beside her without taking those obsidian eyes off me. Haunting, unnatural eyes.

Another shudder threatened to rip through me, but I held it back, using all my energy not to spook her. One wrong move might push the thing possessing her to lash out. As a child, I had heard Gemm tell a story about spirits, but it was only supposed to be a fairytale.

I gulped down what felt like a pile of stones and carefully sat beside her. The healing spell was at the tip of my tongue, but I didn’t want to scare her. Instead, I silently chanted Terra angakok. Terra angakok, again and again, praying to the Divinity above that it would save her from whatever monster bewitched her body. It didn’t work. Kyra stared at me like an empty shell.

My heart rammed chaotically against my chest. I needed help. Reinforcements. Where was fuckin’ Nilson when we actually needed him? Maybe if I distracted her, it’d break the stupor. Terror seized my soul, and I didn’t move a single muscle. What the Flames was I supposed to do? If I touched her, would she snap out of the trance? Had someone cursed her? Why were her eyes the color of death? Sweat dripped down my back, and time ceased to exist.

“Hallie wants me to buy a puppy.” She stroked my dog’s head again and again. The sweetness of her voice had an actual scent; it was like ice cream dipped in poison and spider webs.

“Kyra, Hallie died. She’s not here anymore. I think we should go to bed and —"

“No!” she bellowed. “I don’t have to go to sleep. I don’t have to choose one of you! I don’t have to save anyone.”

I clenched my fists into balls by my side, then released them. Clenched. Released. There was a fundamental wrongness in the air. Gemm had never taught me how to deal with dark Magik as a child. This wasn’t something I had ever trained for. It was time for a new approach.

“Kyra, it’s okay. I think you’re sleepwalking,” I pleaded, hearing the uncertainty in my voice.

She laughed, but the sound was foreign to my ears, veiled in jagged, harsh edges. “No, I’m awake, right, Hallie?”

If I knocked her unconscious and carried her inside, maybe Narelle or Caspian would have a solution. Or we could call Gemm. But there was no chance I’d leave her here alone to search for them.

“What if I die soon?” Kyra asked, her tone sweeter a scrumptious pie.

“What?”

Her gaze latched onto all my fears. That fraudulent smile returned, slithering up her face and claiming it. I had to stop this. Whatever controlled Kyra was taking another piece of her with every passing moment.
