The Bad Decision Legacy by Morgan Kay

This post is part of a virtual book tour organized by Goddess Fish Promotions. The author will be awarding a $50 Amazon or Barnes and Noble GC to a randomly drawn winner via rafflecopter during the tour. Click on the tour banner to see the other stops on the tour.

The Bad Decision Legacy will be $0.99 during the tour.

The Men of Machismo series revolves around nine friends who worked together in a male revue. Each book follows the life of a different former dancer seven years later. The Bad Decision Legacy is Will and Tonya’s story.

Tonya’s psychotic ex is stalking her. Not the best time to meet men, still her best friend begs her to show up for blind date dinner. Her plan includes the meet and greet, then heading home. Of course, she never expected a man who sent every hormone in her body into high alert. Will looked like her next bad decision.

Will’s work as a divorce lawyer included discouraging embittered women from ramming their soon to be exes with the car or setting fire to their husband’s latest girlfriend. No wonder he fell hard for Tonya. The first woman he met with no agenda, well almost none. It’s obvious Tonya is knee deep in trouble, but refuses to ask for help. Instead of running the other way, he contemplates dashing into the tornado she refers to as her life. With any luck, he might survive.

Enjoy an excerpt:

An image of her looking beautiful and festive, wrapped in holiday greenery and Christmas lights filled the screen. It was from more than two Christmases ago, back when she wanted to do something special to celebrate the holidays. An ad for boudoir photography sounded like a perfect gift. Who knew it would come back to haunt her?

Listening to her co-worker’s grating laugh, she studied the photo. Technically, everything was covered, but she still looked nude. This wasn’t good. Her boss would fire her for sure. One of the accountants had to remove a calendar with an attractive model attired in a hockey jersey due to the fact another employee claimed it was sexual harassment.

The lack of laughter had her closing the email, deleting it, and emptying the trash can. A creeping sense of horror had her erasing her history. It would remain on the company server for about forty-eight hours before it disappeared with the rest of the trashed messages.

Richard, the IT manager, informed her he could recover anything for up to forty-eight hours after she deleted it. After that, no luck, he’d explained, since they didn’t back up all data, only the essential. Emails didn’t figure into that, thank goodness. The email was gone. Would Richard search the files?

Tonya twisted in her chair, crossing and uncrossing her legs. Be rational; think logically, she reminded herself as she tried to slow her rapid breathing. Pushing up out of her chair, she walked to the file cabinet and began to rifle through the files as if she were looking for something. Michelle breezed into the room.

Her co-worker’s purse landed on her already crowded desk, as Michelle searched for an empty place to set her oversized soda. Her rain slicker fell onto a brightly colored plastic chair. Michelle pivoted on her stiletto boot heels to greet Tonya.

“Hey, girl. Sorry, I’m late, but my youngest had…” Her voice drifted off.

Her co-worker’s excuses were endless as to why she was late. Her children figured prominently in them. It was hard to say if she was making them up, because kids do get sick, and are difficult, or might even lose the car keys as her eldest did yesterday. It was odd for her to stop in the middle of a sentence.

“Hello, trouble with the kids?” Tonya pushed out the words, hoping her voice sounded ordinary, not showing the strain.

“Yeah, something like that,” Michelle responded, not elaborating like she normally would. A furrowed brow and a tilted down chin indicated something else might be troubling her. “Tonya, you’re as a white as a sheet. I mean, I know you’re white and all, but…”

Morgan K Wyatt writes steamy romances with a side of laughter under the name of Morgan Kay. The wisecracking heroines and hunky heroes are similar to the ones in her mainstream novels, but in the Steamy Interludes series, the bedroom door is left open. Real life issues, humor, dogs are also staples in Morgan Kay romances.

The Muse by Nancy Fraser - Interview and giveaway

This post is part of a virtual book tour organized by Goddess Fish Promotions. Nancy, tell us about your journey to publication.

It’s been long. I began writing back in the early 1990s … yes, I’m that old. I was first published in 1996 with the ill-fated Precious Gems line (a collaboration between Kensington Publishing and Walmart).

After an amicable divorce, I had to give up writing for a while to support myself and share the cost of putting our son through college.

I sold my second book in 2007 and have been writing/selling ever since. The Muse is my 16th book. Book 17, Home is Where the Hunk is (a secret baby book with a twist) came out on the 22nd, and Dream Lover, the fifth novella in my Golden Decade of Rock and Roll series, will be out December 17th. I have four more releases scheduled for early next year.

I actively write for 4 publishers (a different genre with each) and love being able to switch from one type of book to another whenever the mood (or the contract) moves me.

What is your favorite indulgence (food, spa treatment, etc.)?

Sleep, time with my grandchildren, and more sleep. Oh, and the occasional massage.

What inspired you to write The Muse?

The story actually began as part of a submission call from one of my publishers. They wanted something over the top and different from the other historical romances that they publish. I was about three or four chapters into the book when they changed their minds and cancelled the call. However, the characters wouldn’t let me put them on a cyber-shelf and kept insisting I finish what I started. I could almost hear my heroine screaming at me in frustration … as if I were stopping her short of orgasm.

What do you like most about Susan Leland from The Muse?

Her feistiness. She could sit back and do very little, marry a rich lawyer or doctor, and settle in for a life to which she was born. Yet, she’s not content with the easy way of doing things. She craves excitement. Yet, despite her rebellious nature, at heart, she’s a caring individual who volunteers at the seniors home and worries about upsetting her parents. And, when the hero gives her grief, she gives it right back!

What's next for you?

The Muse is my first erotic romance but it definitely won’t be my last! I’ve found a home for my work with Decadent Publishing and couldn’t be happier. I just signed a second contract with them for another 1920’s novella. The Mysterious Mrs. Pennybaker is the story of a World War I “hello girl” who also moonlighted as a femme fatale spy for the US government. I’m also working on a romantic retelling of a Grimm fairytale for their Beyond Fairytales line.

And, in the spirit of juggling, I’m also working on the next Rock and Roll novella and finishing the third book in a post-Civil War family saga series.

I get tired just thinking about it.

Privileged Hyde Park socialite, Susan Leland, wants more from life than being a rich man’s daughter. She wants excitement, daring, but most of all, she wants to explore her sexuality. A chance meeting with artist Evan Forrester, a man she’d met purely by ‘accident’ months earlier, leads Susan on a journey of sensual discovery that not only includes the handsome Evan, but also sultry torch singer, Holly Winters. Together, the singer and the artist uncover Susan’s utmost desires and unleash her inner vamp.

Enjoy an excerpt:

Susan tapped lightly on the solid oak door leading to Evan Forrester’s downtown loft. The building was old, in parts dilapidated and smelling of mold. The three-story climb to his studio had been precarious, with more broken stairs than good ones. The urge to turn and flee ran rampant through her thoughts. She still couldn’t believe she was actually taking him up on his suggestion.

She hesitated. She hadn’t pictured him being destitute, a starving artist unable to afford something better than this run-down building. As hard as she tried to ignore her inner voice, she couldn’t hide her concern for the safety of her situation. Eager to be out of the dark, damp hallway, she knuckled the door a bit harder, stopping just short of actually using her balled-up fist to pound the old wood.

From behind the barrier, she could hear the shuffle of footsteps, and held her breath in anticipation. When the door opened, she let her breath out on a sigh of relief.

“You’re here,” Evan said, his gaze flaring as if she’d caught him by surprise.

“You said one o’clock,” Susan reminded him. She made a rather deliberate show of staring at her bare wrist. “It’s five minutes of, according to my watch.”

He stepped back and allowed her inside. Unlike the dark entryway and corridors leading to the third floor, his loft was filled with color, vivid splashes of paint adorning walls full of original artwork. Windows rose from floor to ceiling, allowing the early afternoon sun to shine through, unimpeded by draperies of any kind. Sparsely furnished with nothing more than a few chairs and a small kitchen table. Susan wondered what lay behind each of the three doors along the back wall.

“Truthfully, I didn’t think you’d show.” He waved his hand in a circle, the arc encompassing the entire open living area. “I don’t get many Hyde Park society girls in my studio.”

She raised her chin a notch. “Whether you realize it or not, I’m not like most Hyde Park girls.” When he didn’t comment, she reminded him, “You said I could make up for the accident by posing for you. I’m here to make amends for—as you put it—the pain and suffering my recklessness caused.”

He chuckled, the teasing lilt of his voice drawing her attention to where he stood. It was then she realized he was dressed in little more than a pair of tight- fitting denim rousers and an unbuttoned shirt. A sparse patch of short curls adorned his well-muscled chest, trailing downward to disappear inside the waistband of his pants. His feet were bare and his dark hair tousled, as if she’d awoken him from a sound sleep. His second laugh, this one much heartier than the first, told her she’d been caught staring. A sudden wave of heat rushed her cheeks. Her pulse raced.

“As I said last night, I don’t do formal portraits.”

His words drew her gaze back to his face, his mouth, the fullness of his lips. She raised her head and nodded. “Let’s just get this over with, please.”

He crooked his finger and motioned for her to follow. “Bathroom’s through there, if you need the facilities.” He opened the door to the middle room. “This is my bedroom. You can change in here, if you’d like. There’s a dressing gown hanging on the back of the door.”

“Change into what?” she asked. Her throat suddenly as dry as a pile of cotton batting, she slipped out of her lightweight coat and cloche and laid them at the foot of the bed.

Evan shook his head; his eyebrows arched and wagged teasingly. “Into as very little as you’re comfortable with, Miss Leland. I prefer totally nude, but if you’d like to leave your fancy drawers on, I can use my imagination.” He motioned toward the wooden table in the corner of the room. “There are some props, jewelry and the sort, over there, if you’d like to doll yourself up.”

“Anything else?” She did her best to put a sarcastic bent to her question yet feared her voice trembled too much to make the right impression.

He lowered his gaze from her face, across her body, down her legs, settling at last on her ankles. The intensity of his perusal made her toes curl.

“Take off those shoes and put on a pair with ankle straps. Preferably black. There should be a pair in the closet that will fit you.” He turned toward the door, stopping to add, “My studio is in the next room over. I’ll prepare a fresh canvas. Don’t take forever. I have someone coming at three.”

Like most authors, Nancy Fraser began writing at an early age, usually on the walls and with crayons or, heaven forbid, permanent markers. Her love of writing often made her the English teacher’s pet, which, of course, resulted in a whole lot of teasing. Still, it was worth it.

When not writing (which is almost never), Nancy dotes on her five beautiful grandchildren and looks forward to traveling and reading when time permits. Nancy lives in Atlantic Canada where she enjoys the relaxed pace and colorful people.

Ophelia’s Lessons by Esmae Browder - Guest Blog and Giveaway

This post is part of a virtual book tour organized by Goddess Fish Promotions. Esmae will be awarding the first three ebooks in the series: Ophelia's Lessons, Ravishing Rosaline, and The Taming of the Prude to a randomly drawn winner via rafflecopter during the tour. Click on the tour banner to see the other stops on the tour.
Five Things You Never Knew about Esmae Browder and Ophelia’s Lessons

Thanks so much for having me as a guest today! I love writing about topics that are fun and (hopefully) engaging for readers. I gave this top five list a lot of thought, and here’s what I came up with! Enjoy!--Esmae Browder

1. I hate touching wooden spoons. I know. It’s a little neurotic, but the texture of that kind of spoon gives me the chills. My husband thinks I need aversion therapy and tries to rub the one wooden spoon I allow in the house on me whenever he is in the kitchen. Hmm….maybe I’ll use that in my next Naughty Shakespeare book. Only it’ll have to be some sort of sexual turn on for a character!

2. I have a huge crush on William Shakespeare. Yes. He’s been dead for 400 years. Okay, so he may not be looking his best right now, but those portraits of him are adorable. That and I’m totally into his writing. I do wish his women were a bit more developed though….that’s one of the reasons I started writing Ophelia’s Lessons. Ophelia needed a chance to be more than just Hamlet’s doormat! I would definitely give Shakespeare a lesson or two on how to write women in his plays.

3. In another life, I was a peasant girl with a flock of sheep. I’m sure of it. Nothing much happened to me and I died of consumption. Sad. Uh-oh…I feel an erotic story about my past life that I just made up coming on…

4. Everyone should have one drink that is their “Go To” drink at a bar. When in doubt, this is the one you order. What will yours be? A dirty martini? A Cosmo? An Oil Slick? Personally, my go to drink is a Vodka Tonic. It’s really hard to screw up, and it allows you to look slightly sophisticated and drunk at the same time. Go ahead and try it the next time you go out! I even included it in Ophelia’s Lessons as her drink of choice. In fact, I like to imagine what all my characters would prefer in an alcoholic beverage. I find that it rounds them out and gives them certain edge. Check out the Naughty Shakespeare series by moi (Esmae Browder) and see if you can pick out who drinks what!

5. I will be at RWA in San Antonio July 23-26 which means that all of my Naughty Shakespeare stories will be free those days. Drop by Amazon and get your copy! I’m really excited about the Romance Writers of America Conference 2014. Parties, workshops, free stuff, and romance writers all in one room--it’s a dream come true. Please drop by and say hello if you happen to be there, too!

Sweet, innocent Ophelia--she wants nothing more than to marry Hamlet Elsinore. But what does a simple virgin know about pleasing a man like the sophisticated and charming Hamlet? Not a whole lot, but when her seductive roommate, Portia, learns of Ophelia’s interest, she gets Horatio to “teach” the innocent girl everything she’ll need to know to seduce his best friend, Hamlet.

Set in modern day, this prequel to Hamlet is steamy enough to have even the Bard blushing! Enjoy this first book of Literotica in the Naughty Shakespeare series.

Enjoy an excerpt:

“There’s a difference between flirting and sex.”

“Are you sure?” Horatio moved to her, his gaze intense, as he tucked a stray ringlet of her dark hair behind her ear. “Why don’t we find out?”

“But--“

“Portia, you can go now.” He cut off her protests, but never took his eyes off Ophelia. “Come back in a few hours.”

“Have fun!” Portia winked at Ophelia. “You look fabulous.”

The click of the door behind her best friend caused Ophelia jump.

Could she do this? Should she do this? It was one thing to want to learn the art of sex to please the man you loved--even if he didn’t really see her like that yet--but another altogether to be seduced by his best friend.

And could she even claim seduction? After all, she was a willing party. She’d gone along with Portia’s plan without much thought.

Anything that would make her better for Hamlet.

“I didn’t know it would be you.” Ophelia swallowed hard. “I assumed it would one of Portia’s ex-lovers.”

“And who’s to say I’m not one of those?” Horatio laughed lightly. “Would you like a drink?”

He gestured to the champagne Portia had prepared for them, and without waiting for her answer, went to it. He popped the cork with expertise, filled their glasses and handed one to her.

“To you, Ophelia,” he said, raising his glass. “To the woman you are about to unleash.”

She drank deeply, letting the bubbles tickle her throat, letting the warmth of it relax her.

“Come here.” Horatio took her hand and led her to the mirror. “I want to show you something.”

He twirled her so she could see herself in the wide mirror on the wall above the couch.

“You are gorgeous.” Horatio stood behind her, barely pressing against her back. He sipped from his champagne glass. “Have you ever really looked at yourself?”

“No,” she whispered and to avoid doing so any longer, Ophelia drained the rest of her glass of champagne. “It’s not right to think about yourself like that. Very vain.”

“Who told you that?”

“My father, maybe my brother.”

“They were fools, afraid of the power you represent as a woman.”

“What do you mean?”

“You have everything a man wants.” His voice rumbled as he wrapped an arm around her and placed his hand over her heart. “We want this.”

She could feel him pressed harder against her, could feel his breath tickle her neck.

“And we want this.” He moved his hand to rest on her crotch. “Your heart and your desire. That’s what we want. Fathers and brothers don’t like seeing it in their sisters and daughters. It reminds them of the sexual animal inside all men.”

He dropped his hand, but didn’t move away from her. For a long moment, their eyes met in the mirror. Then Horatio stepped back just far enough to put down his glass of champagne.

He placed both hands on her shoulders.

“Let’s begin.”

Wicked Seduction by Kristabel Reed - Spotlight and Giveaway

This post is part of a virtual book tour organized by Goddess Fish Promotions. Kristabel will be awarding a $25 Amazon or BN gift card to a randomly drawn winner via rafflecopter during the tour. Click on the tour banner to see the other stops on the tour.

She came to the Parisian Fair for adventure...what she found far exceeded her every expectation. Sex and adventure abound, and Victoria is caught up in the bliss she, Edmund, and Warren create. She wants more, craves it, but is terrified of the consequences. Scandal is around every corner; when she meets one head on will she flee? Or will she realize the power of her ménage is stronger than merely sex?

Enjoy an excerpt:

Try as she might, all Victoria clearly knew was that doing this, taking this step, was her decision.

The crowds began to thin, and she roused herself. Eleven at night, and the fair finally closed for the day. She watched them leave, watched the couples and groups of friends, the laughing men and chattering women stream past her. Planning to join them on their way out of the fair, she started when a deep male voice addressed her.

“Miss,” the man said and Victoria whirled to face him. “We noticed you were on your own here. Would you care for an escort to your companions? Or,” the man added with a knowing spark in his eye, “to the gate or a hackney?”

Victoria looked between the man, tall, very handsome with dark hair and deep eyes, and his blonde, younger companion who stood silently, but not docilely, beside him. A warmth moved through her at the sight of them but she tried to dismiss it.

“I’ve no companion this evening,” she admitted.

“May we then escort you to your hotel?” the younger man offered.

“Forgive me,” the older man said and bowed deeply. “I’m Warren Blackfield and this is my associate, Edmund Garrison.”

The younger man bowed as well and murmured, “A pleasure.”

“Victoria,” she began then stopped short of offering her surname. The two men sounded English, very proper, dressed in the finest Saville Row had to offer, but she enjoyed her anonymity here, and wished to maintain it.

“Victoria…?” Edmund asked.

“Just Victoria,” she repeated.

Demon of Envy by Jennifer Lynne - Spotlight and giveaway

This post is part of a virtual book tour organized by Goddess Fish Promotions. Jennifer will be awarding a $25 Amazon Gift Card, plus a signed print copy of GODS OF LOVE (1-3) and a set of the GODS OF LOVE cover postcards to a randomly drawn winner via the rafflecopter at the end of this post, during the tour (International Giveaway).

Phthonos, god of envy and jealousy, has been given a second chance at life and love in the mortal realm. He is desperate to make up for the mistakes of his past. But is Thon more demon than god? And if the demon Envy wins out, how will this lonely god ever find room in his heart for love?

Olivia is an ordinary woman living an ordered life, but at thirty-two true romance appears to have eluded her. Everywhere she looks people are in relationships or falling in love, but her career as an administrator and her charity work are enough to keep the demon of envy at bay.

Or so she thinks…until the moment he turns up on her doorstep with a demand that rips her life and her heart wide open and leaves her at risk of eternal torment.

DEMON OF ENVY is the fifth novella in the GODS OF LOVE series, but each story is designed as a stand-alone with the Greek gods of desire as a common theme. The series can be read in any order.

Now enjoy an excerpt:

"You want me to walk through the fires of Hell to save you? Phthonos, you ask too much."

"Not to save me, Olivia. To save yourself." The dark tone of his correction shivered down her spine in a sensation that was equal parts fear and desire. She knew this was a dream; had relived the sleep-induced fiction every night this week. She needed to wake up before the bit where he started to burn, where she reached toward him and…oh God, the flames were consuming him already. It was too fast, too powerful…his beautiful face twisted in pain, the clear green eyes flashing desperation as he stretched out a clutching hand…she leaned in, connected with his fingers, and the greedy flames engulfed her too…

For the sixth time that week Liv sat bolt upright in bed, the scream still lodged in her throat and the bedcovers in a twisted mess around her legs. Sweat coated her body. Not the heady exotic scent of post-coital perspiration, either. No. This was the sharp acrid scent of sheer terror, of illness. Of something wrong at her core.

She reached for the brown hair tie on her wrist and snapped it. Once. Twice. A third time. Count to three, then snap again, over and over, the rhythm so familiar by now she didn't need to think. Gradually her heart stopped its uncomfortable thumping and her breathing began to even out. The anxiety attack was receding.

One last snap of the wrist band, the one for luck that she always had to finish with, and she was back in control once again. A swift kick with her left foot removed the sheet and she climbed wearily out of bed before turning back to straighten the tangled covers. Phthonos. Whoever the heck you are, whichever little piece of my imagination that you sprang from, you need to let me get some sleep, hon.

Once Upon a Tiger by Kat Simons - Review and Giveaway

(Erotic Paranormal Romance)

This review is in conjunction with a virtual book tour organized by Goddess Fish Promotions. Kat will be awarding a $50 Amazon/BN GC to a randomly drawn commenter during the tour, so make sure you comment and then follow the tour by clicking the tour banner, above, for more chances to win.

She’ll never run. Among the tiger shifters, Alexis Tarasova is regarded as fierce and dangerous, with a reputation that would make even the most daring tiger think twice about challenging her. Female tiger shifters may be rare and the mating run a critical part of their species’s survival, but Alexis is the only female Tracker and will not back down, even at the threat of tiger law. She will not be forced to mate. So when a handful of males band together to force her to participate in the run, Alexis chooses to stand her ground and fight instead.

He's forbidden to run.

Outcast from the tiger shifters after a vicious childhood attack left him mute, Victor Romanov has never taken part in the mate run. He’s never particularly cared, though, since the woman he loves refuses to take a mate. However, when he learns Alexis may be in danger, all bets are off. Nothing will keep him from her side.

Together, they're unmovable.

The chemistry between them burns wickedly hot and forges them into an unbeatable pair. Alexis knows that being with Victor means she will have to break another one of her people’s laws—a move that might push the tigers too far. But, for Victor, she will risk everything, including her life, and do what she thought she’d never do—run.

MY REVIEW:  This was a hot, interesting story that had quite a bit of meat in it considering how short it was.  At only 54 pages, I wasn't expecting much depth, but I was wrong!

Alexis is complex and has an interesting backstory full of murder and intrigue. She became a tracker for her clan, and is tough, smart and knows how to take care of herself. She's the only female tracker and was given leave to not have to be forced to mate -- something every female is required to do, due to declining numbers.  However, that's all about to change.

When she discovers the leaders have decided it's time she does her duty and get pregnant -- discovers it by finding a band of male shifters ready to force her to "run" outside her home -- she's determined to fight. And is surprised when her old friend and the male she secretly loves stands by her side to defend her rights.  Victor was badly injured as a cub and is mute.  Many shifters in their clan believe it's due to a mental problem, not physical, so he's not allowed to mate (and pass that on genetically).

There isn't a ton of conflict keeping the two apart, honestly, and they give in to their urges early in the story.  The sex is hot and well written and certainly steamed up my ereader, due in part to the awesome guy Victor is, inside and out.  Both Victor and Alexis are determined to do whatever it takes to be together, regardless of what the rest of the shifter clan decrees.  Their love is sweet, based in a solid friendship and respect, but there's no doubt of the physical attraction.  It's enough to make a romantic sigh.

A satisfying short read, I'm really glad I had a chance to pick it up.  Now I'm wondering if Joseph will get a story, because I've developed quite a crush on him!

4 flowers - This was a very good book! I'd recommend it to my friends.

Now enjoy an excerpt:

To Alexis’ surprise, Victor was standing at her door only a few minutes later. She swallowed and tried not to stare. He was magnificent, muscled and lean, with just the right amount of hair covering his human body. The hard cut angles of his face should have made him look harsh but somehow he just looked more compelling. Black eyes, closely cut dark hair, and a sexy half-smile that made her stomach muscles tighten, all combined to send her heartbeat pounding.

She’d never been around Victor when she was in estrous. In fact, since coming to terms with the knowledge that her obsession with him could never lead to a future, she’d made an effort to never spend time alone with him. He was the head security technician at the elders’ compound, so they crossed paths regularly. But she tried making sure there were others around to keep her from doing something stupid.

Unfortunately, she hadn’t always been successful.

She flashed on a recent memory of literally bumping into him in a corridor at the compound when she’d been too deep in thought to notice her surroundings. He’d held her arms while she caught her balance. The contact sent shivers of desire shooting through her body, forcing her to step back as soon as she could, then apologized.

He pulled a notebook from the back pocket of his dark jeans and wrote, You okay?

“Fine. The job I’m heading out on has me…” She shrugged. “It’s a tough one.”

A friend?

“No. Nothing like that.” She made the mistake of looking up to finish and got momentarily caught in the deep darkness of his steady gaze. Her stomach danced in giddy delight even as her heart tightened.

Intimate Desires by Celeste Carrara - Feature and Giveaway

MBB Intimate Desires Banner copy

This post is part of a virtual book tour organized by Goddess Fish Promotions. Celeste will be awarding a $15 Amazon gift card to a randomly drawn commenter during the tour. Click on the tour banner to see the other stops on the tour.

MEDIA KIT IntimateDesiresStephanie is almost forty and her life hasn’t turned out the way she planned. That doesn’t mean she’s ready to give up and wallow in her misfortunes. She has fantasies, wild fantasies and she decides it’s time to make them come true. Lucky for Stephanie, she has four hot tenants that are anxious to satisfy her needs.

It was supposed to be one night of pleasure. Mark soon realizes he can’t get enough of his landlord, Stephanie. He doesn’t care about their age difference, or what others will say. Mark will do whatever it takes to make her see they are meant to be regardless of the obstacles that lay ahead. He will fight for her because that’s what you do… you fight for the one you love.

*This novella contains explicit sexual encounters, which include ménage and group sex. 18 and over only.

Enjoy an excerpt:

It was hard to concentrate on walking with Mark in such close proximity. His face was so striking, with perfect masculine features, a strong chin, and broad nose. He had to be Italian. His dark hair was short and styled with a sexy “just got out of bed” look. His eyes matched his hair color and Stephanie was rattled when they met hers. His good looks made her so nervous she stumbled over the threshold. He was quick to catch her arm to help steady her. She was embarrassed beyond measure and tried to laugh it off, making small talk about the history of the house, though he seemed more interested in her than the things she was saying. Mark stared at her and it was unnerving.
Self-conscious, she rubbed her fingers through her long hair afraid something was out of place. Why did he look at her like that? He smiled and blushed when she asked if he wanted to go upstairs. She told herself not to read too much into it and led him to his bedroom.

Life Flight by Shaunna Wolf - Virtual Tour and Giveaway

This post is part of a virtual book tour organized by Goddess Fish Promotions. The author will be awarding a $50 Amazon or BN gift card to one randomly drawn winner via the Rafflecopter below. Click on the tour banner to see the other stops on the tour.

Malachi Blackfeather has spent twenty years in the Army. Two of those years as a Vietnam POW. Now that he's out, all he wants is some peace and quiet to figure out what to do with the rest of his life. Between the flashbacks, and an over interest in sex that is now being called sex addiction, finding his path isn't easy.

Kat is trying to escape an abusive marriage. Her soon to be ex is a master at manipulating the system, and her family thinks she should stay with him, "because no other man will want her". She's looking for escape in any form she can get it.

When they meet, sparks fly. Trapped by a blizzard, can two damaged people, who think there is no chance of love in the world for them, find each other, and survive an unforeseen circumstance that puts both of them in danger?

Mystery, romance, and danger, fill this novel, with a story that will draw you in and not let go.

Now enjoy an excerpt:

The heater stood dark and cold. I should have gotten up after we were done. Filled it and restarted it. I hadn’t wanted to move. Still didn’t want to, despite the cold in the room. Dim light streamed in through the window, sleety snow still battered the glass. Shook the door in its frame. How long could this blizzard go on?

I tightened my arms around Kat. Forever. Then she would have to stay right in this room with me--in my arms. Nothing made sense, everything my life had been for the last twenty-five years rang like a bad dream, a nightmare from the pits of Vietnam. So dead inside that any feeling fed me, woman after woman, man after man, no one let me hold on to what I felt for more than a few shared moments. Lies whispered to the tiny ember of my soul that I had left. This is the one, they told me, this one will make you feel, will bring you back to life.

They never did.

Kat ran her hand down my arm. Snuggled closer to me. A chill that had nothing to do with how cold the room had become, shook me. Spoke to me. I could again with her, and I knew I would keep feeling what I was. Alive. Warm. As if I had a soul inside me, not just a demon who preyed on others for my next fix of emotions.

“I should fill that heater and get us some warmth again.”

“Yeah, I suppose one of us should,” she said with no intention to do so in her voice.

I tightened the bear’s embrace I held her in, tangled my legs with hers. She pushed at my arm, wanted to make me let go of her.

“I don’t want to let go of you yet,” I said. If I let her go, the surging emotions inside me would vanish with the warmth of holding her.

Worth Keeping by Susan Mac Nicol - Spotlight and Giveaway

1_27 MEDIA KIT WorthKeeping_CoverNick Mathers pulls Owen Butler from the freezing waters off the Norfolk coast, but Owen’s love can carry Nick back from the edge of oblivion.

Enjoy an excerpt:

Nick cursed the daylight and the truths it brought with it. He finally moved to get up, deciding a morning woody was worth the embarrassment as opposed to this thorough inspection of his body.

Owen grasped his shoulder, holding him back. Nick stilled at the expression on Owen’s face, a mixture of compassion and something else—sheer tenderness. He lost his breath at that look. Nick was torn between badly wanting this man to touch him and fleeing.

He stayed. Owen’s long, warm fingers started to explore his past. Owen’s fingers moved lightly over Nick’s chest, touching the scars, finding the long, jagged one underneath his right arm that trailed down to his ribs.

Nick’s own morning hard-on got steelier by the minute at the other man’s gentle touch. Owen drew a deep, shuddering breath. “Jesus, Nick, someone really did a number on you.” His voice was uncertain. “Unless you did that to yourself?”

Nick laughed shortly. “No, I can’t take the credit for these ones. Not my work.”

Owen shook his head in incredulity. “Who the fuck could do this to someone? Nick, what the hell happened to you?”

Nick shook his head. “I don’t want to talk about it,” he whispered. He shivered as Owen’s fingertips slowly circled the burns. Then Owen did something totally unexpected. He leaned forward and kissed one of them. It was a soft, fleeting caress by a pair of warm lips that felt incredibly good against Nick’s skin. Nick pulled back defensively, sitting up, but Owen’s hand moved gently, pushing him back. The duvet fell to Nick’s hips and he closed his eyes in mortification at the tenting of it around his groin.

1_27 worth keeping MEDIA KIT susan-mac-nicol-newAbout the Author:Susan Mac Nicol was born in Leeds, Yorkshire, in the United Kingdom. At the age of eight, her family moved to Johannesburg, South Africa where she stayed for nearly thirty years before arriving back in the UK in December 2000. She has written nine novels, two novellas and a screenplay since February 2012 and clearly believes in keeping herself busy. She has found herself wanting to stay in the genre that is M/M Romance so more can definitely be expected.

Sue is a member of Romance Writers of America and Romantic Novelists Association in the UK. She is also a member of a rather unique writing group, called the Talliston Writer’s Circle, which in itself has a story all of its own to tell and lives in the rural village of Bocking, in Essex, with her family. Her plan is to keep writing as long as her muse sits upon her shoulder. Her dream is to one day make enough money to give up the day job and get that big old house in the English countryside overlooking a river, where she can write all day and continue to indulge her passion for telling stories.

Qwillia Rain-- Interview and Giveaway

This post is part of a virtual book tour organized by Goddess Fish Promotions. Qwillia will be awarding a grand prize of a messenger bag, pens, post-it notes, and a key-chain wallet (No geographical restrictions) as well as three Amazon gift cards: $20, $10 and $5 to randomly drawn commenters during the tour. Click on the tour banner to see the other stops on the tour.

Why do you write in your genre?

First, the genre I tend to gravitate toward the most is erotic romance with BDSM elements. This wasn’t a conscious decision on my part, honestly. I began writing when I was 12 and the scenes I wrote tended toward the more graphic end of the spectrum, whether they were romantic/sex scenes or murder scenes (yes, I also play with romantic suspense); my focus wasn’t on shock value, but on eliciting a physical and mental reaction from people. I was simply putting the movie in my head down on paper.

As my writing progressed and I delved into reading genres that better reflected what I wrote, I could see that I wasn’t an oddball. There were others out there with the same skill set as mine, and I realized it was nothing to be embarrassed about. It was even better when I discovered the books that incorporated BDSM into them (these books were out decades before Fifty Shades) and I realized the bits and pieces of stories that I’d kept hidden because they seemed “wrong” were actually celebrated.

What draws you to it?

The psychology of the relationship is the most fascinating thing to me. Whether it’s Dominant/submissive, Master/slave, or simply vanilla with a twist, the trust and respect between the couple or individuals involved is amazing. The strength that comes from that bond imbues the character with self-confidence and awareness that they carry through to other aspects of their lives—at least by the end of the story.

What research (or world-building – for fantasy/paranormal/Sci-fi) is required?

For writing, it’s a never-ending learning process on what works best to inspire and compel me to write the next story; to delve into the next bit of weirdness from my characters without worrying about the end product until I get there. There are so many opinions and tools available on the writing craft, a person could get lost trying to figure out what works best for them.

For BDSM, research is done with lots of reading and hands-on practice and keeping an open mind. It also requires an understanding of your personal limits (both hard and soft) and what you will and won’t do in any given situation. I’ve attended readings at a dungeon with other authors who write in the same genre, chatted in online groups, checked out the social networking sites that people in the Lifestyle use, talked to Doms and subs, attended a fetish conference, and even let someone use a whip on me (definitely proved I’m a sting not a thud type of girl.) I use it all when it comes to figuring out what drives my characters to be the way they are.

Name one thing you learned from your hero/heroine.

Never deny who you are at your core. It’s okay to tone it down for those people who get nervous or antsy when what you’re interested in is mentioned. Respect others’ right to choose, but don’t be afraid to educate someone if they are willing to listen. If a person wants to be judgmental, nothing you say is likely to change their opinion, so don’t waste your time arguing.

Any odd or interesting writing quirks, habits or superstitions?

Hmm, odd or quirky? Well, I love the number 13, feel my luckiest day is always a Friday the 13th (mainly because I was born on that day), and I tend to be obsessive-compulsive about alphabetizing Mcs and Macs before the Ms in bookstores (I was taught to shelve books by a librarian).

As for habits and quirks…when I’m working on the rough draft of a story I can’t have any noise around me and I type with my eyes closed, usually in the dark so I have no visual distractions. Once a book is done and in the editing phase, I can have a movie playing while I write if I need the “feel” of the scenes when I’m rewriting, but it has to be a movie I’ve seen at least five to ten times before. Favorites for editing right now: Prince of Persia, Poseidon, History of Violence, and Man on Fire.

Plotter or pantser?

Actually, I’m what my friend calls an ADHD writer who is now semi-medicated.

When I first started writing I would put down on the page whatever came to my mind and out of sequence, then put all the scenes together where they needed to go, and finish by writing the bridging scenes between the other scenes. Sometimes this ended up leaving me with scenes that weren’t necessary or had nothing to do with the story I was writing, so I’d have to trash them, no matter how much I loved them.

After publishing and dealing with nearly 14 months of writer’s block, I discovered that I could still enjoy my ADHD ways, but narrow the focus and stay on task by using some tools a friend of mine put together using other writing methods and theories. It’s made things interesting to say the least, but allowed me to keep my focus on the story and moving it forward instead of spinning off into directions that don’t gel with what’s going on.

Look to your right – what’s sitting there?

More blog interviews and subjects that I need to finish writing for my blog tour and my two bookcases of romance novels that I’ve carried with me for the last 30 years. Ironically, the novels are predominantly series romance and historical romances (two genres I haven’t worked in—yet.)

Anything new coming up from you?

A few things, both writing and travel related.

What?

I’m currently working on completing the fifth book in the Diablo Blanco Club series (it’s actually the fourth in the chronological order) and the second book in my Poker Posse series. The DBC book has been fighting me for the last three years, but I’m determined that it will be finished this year—damn it!

As for the Poker Posse book, this is the third or fourth permutation, because I haven’t been able to pin down the motivations of the characters until recently. It too will be done.

In October I’ll be attending Moonlight & Magnolias in Atlanta, Georgia and teaching a class at the conference on Character Growth Mechanism.

Do you have a question for our readers?

How do you feel about BDSM or erotic romance? Also, if you’ve never read BDSM (and Fifty Shades, in my opinion, is not a good representative of the genre) would you be willing to try one if you found the right author (because I’d be more than willing to suggest some excellent authors, who write in all the varying levels of the genre—from light to hardcore—if you’re willing to keep an open mind and look beyond the whips, ball-gags, and bondage?)

Broken Fences by Kelly Gendron - Virtual Tour and Giveaway

This post is part of a virtual book tour organized by Goddess Fish Promotions. Kelly will be awarding a $25 Amazon/BN GC to a randomly drawn commenter during the tour. Click on the tour banner to see the other stops on the tour.

10_22 Cover_Broken FencesColden Saint James, Dusty Owens, and a single night of passion had equaled to poor old Mr. McAllister’s broken fence. Add six years, a troublemaking photo, and there’s not a fence in Texas that’s gonna be safe.

It took Dusty Owens two years to land Colden “Saint” James, even if it was for only one night, but the very next day, he was gone. Now, years later, the “Saint” has returned, but he’s no longer the do-gooder rookie cop Dusty remembers.

Dusty Owens always had a way of making every single one of Colden’s man parts go all hard. He’d been so close to falling for the girl before he’d left Odessa. Now, due to a troublemaking photo, Colden must return to his hometown to keep her safe. Trouble is, he’s a different man—not to mention the change. Well, it’s gonna cause all kinds of problems where Dusty Owens and all of his man parts are concerned.

Enjoy this excerpt:

His large hand hit the edge of the bed, and he pushed himself into a standing position. With his chest rising and falling beneath his shirt, his eyes remained fixed on her. She lay naked on the bed, but it was Colden’s vulnerability that stood, unprotected, in the room.

Dusty eased herself to the edge of the bed with Colden silently watching. She got up on her feet.

His jaw flinched. “Damn, girl,” he said, taking another thorough inspection of her naked body. “You’re gorgeous.”

The compliment infused her confidence, and she took a step toward him.

“But you’d better not come any closer.”

“Why not?”

“Because, ever since you pranced that sweet little ass of yours into Odessa, I’ve wanted you, and the one night I took you up against old man McAllister’s fence…well, hell, that couldn’t even lick a fraction of what I need from you.”

“What you need from me?” She inched nearer, loving the sound of those words.

“Oh yeah.” He gazed down, touching her with his eyes. “There’s not one part of you that I don’t want…or need.”

She reached out and gathered the bottom of his shirt in her hands. “Good, because there’s not a part of me that I don’t want to give to you.” She pulled his shirt up over his head, then tossed it on the floor to join her pile of clothes.

Colden watched her shaky fingers as they fumbled with the button of his jeans. “I can’t make you any promises,” he quietly admitted.

Pulling down his zipper, her hand stilled. She looked up at his strict, beautiful face. “I’m not asking for any. I just want tonight.”

He grabbed her and pulled her against his warm, hard body, cradling her neck in his hand, a powerful taking that stole her breath away. He placed a finger on the underside of her chin and tilted her head until their eyes met. “Don’t misunderstand my meaning,” he said, his mouth cascading over hers. “I want more than just tonight, Dusty. I’m just not in any position to make any commitments right now.” This time, his lips didn’t brush hers. Instead, they covered her with heated need—aggressive, desirous, savoring need.

“Tonight, though,” his fingers tightened on her neck, “tonight you will be all mine,” he growled.

Megan Hussey--Interview

A very special welcome today to Megan Hussey, who was brave enough to come answer a few of our questions! Her newest full-length erotic romance is a cougar story.... here's a little bit about the book.

She's 44. He's 22. They're about to cause a sensation. Valentina Rowe is a proper, Victorian-era bookstore owner who indulges her fantasies only through the pages of sensation novels; suggestive works she writes under a pen name for local newspapers. Yet she finds real-life adventure in the arms of Lord Nathaniel Billingsley, a younger man who discovers her secret fantasy life and seeks to fulfill her deepest desires. And while Valentina cannot resist the charms of the gorgeous young seducer, who both lavishes her with beautiful gifts and brings her most wicked fantasies to life, she fears the scandal that could destroy their reputations--and their blossoming love.

Buy the book at Amazon.

Why do you write in your genre? What draws you to it?

I've always loved romance, be it sweet or spicy, contemporary or historical; at the same time, I felt that something was missing from this genre. Where were the strong, ordinary looking heroines? The sensitive heroes? I saw so much that could be done to enhance the genre, and that's what I set out to do.

What research (or world-building – for fantasy/paranormal/Sci-fi) is required?

For historicals I do research online and through reference books, and of course by reading historical novels. For vampire and merman stories I study the legends of the paranormal, in much the same manner.

Name one thing you learned from your hero/heroine.

I learn so much from all of them. My heroine Valentina in Victorian Sensation reminded me to live life to the fullest, with no care to what other people think. Plus we both have a thing for younger men--bonus!

Any odd or interesting writing quirks, habits or superstitions?

Probably my strongest writing quirk is that I write all the time. And I mean that literally. Between journalistic and fiction projects I write 24/7 (with a bit of time out for eating and sleeping, natch), and I love every minute.

Plotter or pantser?

Definite pantser. My characters boss me around to no end lol--their stories just flow out of me! I rarely do outlines or storyboarding.

Look to your right – what’s sitting there?

A vase filled with faux pink roses--good thing it wasn't anything embarrassing! lol

Anything new coming up from you? What?

My recent releases include Victorian Sensation, my first self-published book available on Amazon--it's an older woman/younger man story set in Victorian England; Blooming Love, a sweet romance with a message from Rhetorical Ratatouille; Siren In Store, merman erotica from My Pouty Lips; Passion's Tapestry, a Renaissance time travel available from Melange Books; Naked Siren: Port Emerald After Dark, a novel of merman erotica from Class Act Books; and Angel on Fire, vampire erotica from Phaze. Coming soon is The Adventures of Aphrodite, mythological erotica from ME (Metaphysical Erotica) House, The House of Lavender Dreams, paranormal erotica from Melange, and also two Christmas releases from Melange, the naughty vampire tale Noelle's Nocturne and the sweet contemporary Merry Christmas India Stone, that one is co-written by Linda White-Francis.

Do you have a question for our readers?

What's your idea of the perfect hero?

Megan Hussey is an award-winning feminist erotica author known for writing paranormal-based fantasy romances and for her work with woman-oriented adult companies such as Playgirl and Good Vibrations. Many of her stories revolve around fantasy characters such as mermen and vampires, and strong, real woman heroines. She lives in Florida; please visit her website at http://goldenmuse.tripod.com.

Enjoy an excerpt

Then, his voice and demeanor took a more serious tone. “Then there was your marriage to Richard and his sudden death.”

I carefully placed my fork back on the plate and stared at him, shocked that he would bring up Richard. We had been together for close to fifteen years. It had been obvious to everyone except me that he had married me exclusively for the money and connections that my family brought. What he had not expected was Papa insisting on a pre-nuptial agreement.

Richard made the best of the knowledge that he would get nothing if he ever chose to leave. As soon as we married, sex was non-existent between us. He had a steady stream of mistresses and thought little of parading them in front of me. The agency had been his idea, as he had loved the lifestyle and fame it brought. His life had ended as he had lived—hard, fast, and mysterious.

I took a bite of salad and did not react immediately. “I was surprised when you moved to Atlanta.” As I changed the subject, my tone made it clear to Max that Richard was an issue I did not wish to discuss.

“I wanted to be closer to the new team you put together. Manhattan can be so over-rated and expensive. California I love, but it’s even further away. But I do like the climate and the opportunities. Atlanta intrigued me. What made you move here?” The sides of his mouth curled up as though he already knew the answer.

What’s he up to? “Atlanta is special. My mother’s from the area, and I spent a lot of time here growing up.”

“Ah-ha!” he boomed, as he grinned at me. “Now I know why your parent’s named you Ashleigh. It's so Atlanta, so Southern, so Gone with the Wind.”

“Better than the alternative I suppose.”

“What would that be?”

“My father wanted to name me Coco after Coco Chanel, which might have worked in France, but here I don’t know. At least fun can be had with Ashleigh. You know, the Gone with the Wind melodrama.” I replied as we left the table and headed into the living room. “Would you like coffee, Max, or perhaps something stronger?”

“A brandy sounds great, love,” his accent thicker than earlier.

The change did not go unnoticed as I left to fetch the liquor. I returned with two snifters and handed one to him. He seated himself back on the sofa as I walked around to a chair where I could gaze at him from a safe distance.

“I thought, if you are in agreement, we’d stay at a condo that belongs to a girlfriend of mine. She travels extensively. I’m sure she’d be more than happy to let us use her place.”

“That sounds fine. When do you want to leave?” His deep brown stare roamed over my body, a grin curving his luscious lips.

I shifted in my seat, trying desperately not to notice. “Day after tomorrow suit you?”

Pensive mature woman looking through out the windowJamie Salisbury cannot imagine a time when she did not write. A skill that has served her well throughout her diversified professional career that encompassed public relations in and around the entertainment industry, photography, editing, and special event planning.

An avid reader of history, biographies, and romance it's only natural that she prefers to write romances with characters said to be "so authentic they spring forth from the page and shake the reader's hand." No stranger to life threatening situations Jamie pulls from life experience when she creates her stories. Such as when her family had to escape Chile when she was a teen because of the unstable political climate.

Finding herself unable to walk great distances as a result of several foot surgeries, she started writing once again as a way to pass the time. With the completion of her first novel Perpetual Love she dove head first into the eBook and digital publishing paradigm. She couldn't be happier with her decision to grab the publishing industry by the shoulders and force it to pay attention to all she has to offer.

Coming Unbound by Lacey Savage - virtual tour and giveaway

Today author Lacey Savage visits on her tour with Goddess Fish Promotions for the contemporary erotic romance, "Coming Unbound".

Lacey will be awarding a $25 Amazon gift certificate to a randomly drawn commenter during the tour, so leave a comment today and follow the rest of her tour by clicking on the banner above.

Now, down to business! Thanks to Lacey for answering all my prying questions.

Why do you write in your genre? What draws you to it?

I write erotic romance because it offers a no-holds-barred look at intimacy. I love mainstream romance, don’t get me wrong, but I always found myself wishing the author had left the bedroom door wide open. I wanted to know what happened between the characters when they were vulnerable with each other.

I think sex says so much about the way two people interact. And sure, the mechanics of sex are pretty basic, but I think every couple makes love differently. I don’t mean when it comes to inserting “tab A into slot B”, but rather, in the way they communicate. Who takes control? Do they speak? If they do, what do they say? How focused are they on each other’s pleasure versus their own? How does sex complicate their growing relationship? I love exploring issues of intimacy, so erotic romance seemed like a perfect fit for me.

What research is required?

For me, it definitely depends on the book. I’ve written books that required very little research. These are the books set in locales I know well, with characters whose jobs and day-to-day lives are familiar to me. COMING UNBOUND is one of those.

I’ve also written books that required tons of research. For example, I, NEFERTITI, one of my first novels, is set in Ancient Egypt. I used famous historical figures like Nefertiti and Akhenaten as my main characters, so I spent months researching before I wrote a single word.

Name one thing you learned from your heroine.

Ginny taught me that it’s okay to ask for what you want, both in the bedroom and outside of it. I think so many of us keep our needs and wants hidden from our partners, either because we’re afraid of how they’ll react, or because we’re so focused on giving them what they want and need. Being giving is wonderful, of course, but not at the expense of sacrificing your own desires.

Do you have any odd or interesting writing quirks, habits or superstitions?

Oh boy, do I ever! There are two things I can’t write without: a candle and a cup of tea. But not just any candle – it has to be the “Trick or Treat” candle from Yankee Candle… the one that smells like candy corn and buttercream. And I can’t drink just any tea, either. It has to be a green tea infused with rose petals, which I’ve only been able to find at a specialty tea shop here in town. Without those two things, the words don’t flow nearly as well.

Are you a plotter or pantser?

I’m a bit of both. I need to know where I’m headed when I first start a book, so I do some work on imagining my characters and figuring out their goals and motivations. Then I create a loose scene outline. This often changes as I write, but it makes me feel better to know I’m not going in blind.

Look to your right – what’s sitting there?

To my right is my art desk. My office is split into two – on one side is my writing nook, which includes my computer, a stack of books and notebooks, my cup of tea and my candle, of course. Immediately to my right is another desk identical to the first, but this one’s used for my other creative pursuits: painting, drawing, scrapbooking, cardmaking, and mixed media art.

Anything new coming up from you? What?

I don’t have anything else contracted right now, but I have a number of projects on the go. Unfortunately, they’re still at the “I-can’t-talk-about-it” stage.

Do you have a question for our readers?

I’d love to know how your readers feel about books featuring couples who are already married. Do you like them? Dislike them? Or do you just let the story speak for itself, regardless of whether the couple’s known each other for 5 minutes, or for 15 years?

Ginny and Cole have struggled to connect intimately since before their marriage. When Cole suggests they surprise each other with the most sexually daring things they can dream up for their anniversary, Ginny reluctantly musters every ounce of courage she possesses to get nipple piercings.

Cole’s surprise?

He’s turned their suburban basement into a dungeon—and hired a sexy Dom to teach them the art of BDSM.

Desperately in love with his wife, Cole’s aware of sensitive sexual demons in Ginny’s past, and will try anything to beat them. Whips, toys, ménage play with the Dom…all these and more could help Ginny find pleasure, break through her issues.

Or, if they’re not careful, possibly just break Ginny.

I groped for my cocktail glass then drained it. “Now, are you going to answer my question or not?”

She pursed her lips for a moment before replying. “Men want whores.”

My stomach bottomed out. That wasn’t at all the answer I’d expected. It went against everything I believed.

I motioned for her to go on with a flick of my trembling hand.

“They also want a woman who’s confident in her own skin. Someone secure enough in her sexuality to tease them, taunt them, play with them.”

The blood drained from my face. That wasn’t me at all. I liked sex well enough, but Cole was the one who initiated our romantic encounters almost all the time.

“What they don’t want,” Donna continued, “is someone who just lies there and takes it.” She sipped her martini and furrowed her brows. “Why are you asking me this?”

I sucked in a breath and considered lying or changing the subject. But my heart pounded hard against my breastbone, and I needed to know more. “Cole wants us to spice things up for our anniversary,” I blurted. “And I have no idea what to do.”

“Is that all?” Donna laughed, the humor crinkling her eyes. “Geez, girl, you scared me. You were so serious. I thought you were getting a divorce or something.”

I swallowed hard but said nothing. A divorce might not be too far off. Cole had married a woman with little sexual experience and no interest in learning anything beyond the particulars of inserting Tab A into Slot B, and I couldn’t help but wonder if he had a Lilian of his own. Cole worked as a technician at a medical laboratory. Had someone there already offered to hop on a photocopy machine and spread her legs for him?

The thought soured my stomach. I set my empty glass aside and gripped Donna’s hands. “Help me.”

Her eyes widened. She squeezed my fingers in a supportive gesture, and I was insanely grateful she wasn’t laughing.

“Okay, well, you must have some idea. Think about a fantasy of yours… Something you haven’t gotten to act out but would like to.” I must have looked completely blank, because Donna sighed. She signaled a waiter who was passing by. “We’re going to need more alcohol.”.
