Haunted, hunted, and scared, I only have one thing going for me – I am resilient.

Dreamstate

The monsters never rest. They lurk, waiting for me to go to sleep.

Already, I have lost everything in my fight with the monsters that haunt my dreams, but my nightmares are about to become a reality when I am kidnapped by a shadowy government agency called the IDA.

Drafted into the IDA’s army of dreamers, the monsters become more real than they have ever been before. I am beginning to learn who, or what, I am – and the responsibility it brings with it.

Read an Excerpt from Resilient

My heart is hammering wildly in my chest as I drive past the shops and the police station. A line from an old movie floats up in my memory. I see dead people.

There, at the restaurant on the corner, are two bodies on the pavement. A man and a woman. From the look of it, he had her in his arms before she died. I swallow the lump in my throat, terrified.

Putting my foot hard on the pedal, I speed around the corner with screeching tires. I don’t know what is going on and I just want to get away from here.

Haring down the road, I fix my eyes in front of me, ignoring the crazy world around me. When I finally reach the Murray & Roberts building, I zoom into the underground parking, coming to a squealing stop right in front of the elevator.

I sit there for a moment, breathing heavily. I don’t know what to think. Am I still hallucinating from the fever I had? “Pull yourself together,” I tell myself.

Shaking, I climb out of the car and look around the deserted parking. Besides my Polo, there are only four other cars here. I see Stephan’s SUV and hope moves my feet towards the elevator.

I push the button, but the light does not come on. Of course, no electricity. I climb the stairs to the first floor where the reception is. It is empty, not even the security guard is by the entrance door.

Closing the door again, I carry on up the stairs to the second floor to where the offices are. An eerie silence greets me as I open the door to the large, open-plan office. The only light comes from the windows and the shadows I cast on the office desk dividers as I walk past is just creepy.

“Shit.”

I drop my bag and rush into Stephan’s private office. My boss is slumped over his desk, head tilted at an uncomfortable angle. “Stephan.” I touch his shoulder. It is cold, even through his shirt. “Stef?”

Bracing myself, I take him by the shoulders and push him back in his chair. A scream escapes me when I see his bloated face and I suddenly become intensely aware of the smell. I gag.

Crying, I run from his office, past the deserted work stations, and back down the stairs. Only when I am back in my car and the doors are locked, do I stop to think about what I just saw.

He’s dead. They’re all dead. My head reels. This must be some kind of nightmare.

With shaking fingers, I start my car, my thoughts turning to my parents.

This post is part of a virtual book tour organized by Goddess Fish Promotions. Robyn will award one randomly drawn commenter via Rafflecopter a $10 Amazon/BN GC. Click on the tour banner to see the other stopst on the tour.

MediaKit_BookCover_HellkatKat James likes her men in suits, not cowboy boots. Is it time for a different kind of man?

Saddle up for a story filled with passion, mystery, unrequited love, and family drama. Can Tucker Williams prove he's the best man for Kat? Or will an old-flame win her back?

It won't matter, if Kat doesn't survive her family’s dangerous secret.

Enjoy an excerpt:

She hadn’t been prepared for the heavy-handed smack to her face that dropped her on all fours and blurred her vision. Leveraged on the coffee table, Kat reoriented her balance, cheek throbbing, the taste of iron on her tongue. She steadied herself to meet her brother’s furious stare. She dabbed at the warm blood pooled at the corner of her mouth while her eyes roamed the pristine white canvas of his starched business shirt, the narrow silk tie hanging perfectly straight. She swirled and centered the metal flavor in her mouth, then launched the red spray at him. He jumped back in obvious disgust, gawking at the contamination splattered on his custom-tailored shirt. His eyes, filled with loathing, flicked back to her, her sentence easy to read in them.

But he still hadn’t used the gun …

“If you haven’t already killed Kyle, you will.” The words, hard to think let alone speak, stuck in her throat. She swallowed the knot of emotion. “So I’m not negotiating with you. And you won’t use me to bring anyone else here. This is between you and me. And if these are my final hours, then they’re happening on my terms, not yours.”

Courage propelled her to take a step toward him.

The bewilderment on his face at her bold move empowered her. “I will make this messy. And I will make sure it all points back to you. This will not go according to your plan.” She paused. Her jaw ticked, and her lips turned up at one corner. “It will go according to mine.”

MediaKit_AuthorPhoto_HellkatAbout the Author:Robyn Roze lives amongst the cornfields of the Midwest and telecommutes as an accountant. Writing was a childhood dream of Robyn’s. She won creative writing awards as a girl and teachers encouraged her to pursue a writing career. But pragmatism won out, and she boxed the dream away on the maybe-someday shelf.

Maybe-someday came for Robyn in 2013 when she published the Keeper Series, a new adult romantic suspense story. Then she shifted gears and decided to pen a novel with a much more mature cast—Chain of Title was born, her bestselling title. Readers have been loud in their demand for a sequel, and Robyn is currently working on the next chapter of Shayna and Sean's love story. And her latest book, HellKat, released in June 2015. All of Robyn’s stories contain one key element that her readers love: a strong, independent heroine.

When she’s not spending time with her fictional families, she loves to spend time with her real one: her high school sweetheart, their two moody teenagers, and a pampered rescue mutt.

Synopsis
No touching allowed …
After serving her country, Georgia Trulane craves adventure—and sex. She's set her sights on her brother's best friend—now her boss, since she took a temporary job as his nephew's live-in nanny. Only problem? Eric refuses to touch her. That doesn't stop Georgia from seducing him. But an earth-shattering encounter leaves her fully exposed, body and soul.

Eric has a long list of reasons to steer clear of the woman he has wanted for as long as he can remember. For one, he refuses to be her next thrill ride. When he claims her, it will be for good. But the attraction is undeniable, and the more they fight it, the stronger it pulls. But will it be enough to conquer their obstacles?

Eric heard those words and knew he should walk away. But desire mixed with that one word. Dare. His imagination ran in ten different directions. The things he wanted to do to her, the places he wanted to see his hands move over her body, and hers over his, raced through his mind. It was like watching a highlight reel of his sexual fantasies. But this wasn’t about him.

Eric leaned across the table, keeping his voice low even though he’d demanded a table in a quiet corner of the restaurant, just in case having others around them set off warning bells in her head. “I dare you to tell me your fantasies.”

Georgia’s eyes widened. “A dare is supposed to be an action.”

He sat back in his seat and crossed his arms in front of his chest. “Feel free to demonstrate.”

She raised an eyebrow, and he wondered if she planned to take him up on his offer. If her fantasies were anything like his, a little show-and-tell would draw unwanted attention. And it might get them arrested.

She cocked her head as if debating which path to choose. Part of him screamed demonstrate. He could afford the bail.

“Are you done with your chowder?” she asked.

He nodded.

“Get the check,” she said. “I’ll tell you while we walk along the beach. Your condo isn’t far from here, right?”

“Five minutes on foot.” Eric withdrew his wallet and dropped a pile of bills on the table, more than enough to cover the meal and tip. “Let’s go.”

Watching her slide from the booth and head for the exit, knowing where this was headed when they reached the shore, the last shreds of his self-restraint snapped. It was as if he was waiting for her towel to drop again, unwilling to look away.

Eric followed her out the door and down the old wooden steps to the beach. Silently, they walked side by side. He couldn’t touch her. Not yet. This wasn’t a sweet stroll by the shore, hand in hand. One touch would set him on fire. He had a feeling it would do the same for her.

The sun was inching lower and lower in the sky, but it was still too bright. And even when it fell below the horizon, the lights from the condo buildings and hotels lining the shore would cast a soft glow over the beach, bright enough to illuminate two people stripping down in the sand.

Twenty paces from the Clam Shack, alone on the shore except for a man tossing a tennis ball for his dog, Eric leaned over, careful not to touch his lips to her ear. “Start talking, Georgia.”

“My fantasies?”

He nodded. “Tell me. I dare you.”

She shoved her hands in the front pockets of her jeans, and her eyes focused on the sand in front of her, as if she were doing her best not to step on shells or debris. In the dimming light, he couldn’t read her expression.

“You’re my fantasy,” she said.

Eric stopped short, her words hitting him in the gut. He’d been waiting for her to describe something kinky and wild. “Georgia—”
