Five things people would never guess about Sharolyn G. Brown
1. I’m a TV addict, and I’ve, apparently, been one my entire life.

When I was a baby, my crib was in my parents’ bedroom. My Mom told me that one day when she came into her bedroom, I was standing in my crib watching TV. She can’t remember what was on. But, she decided to turn off the TV and get me out of the crib. However, when she turned it off, I fell out in the crib screaming and kicking having a meltdown tantrum. So my Mom picked me up and tried to calm me down. According to her, I was inconsolable. The only way she could end the tantrum was to turn the TV back on and place me back in my crib. I was fine after that.

2. I have the most useless superpower in the world.

It is the ability to make any cup with a lid leak. It always happens to me, most often with coffee cups. And I mean the coffee cup lids that have the openings for you to drink from. I travel for work. And my routine has always been to grab a cup of coffee, with a lid, as I leave the hotel each morning. Well, if I try to drink my coffee with the lid still on it, inevitably, I will feel drops splattering on my shirt, or my lap, or whatever’s below my mouth. It’s not brand specific. Any type of coffee cup, with a lid, can be defeated by me. So I have learned. I still put the lid on while moving from place to place with the cup, but once I’m ready to start drinking it, I remove the lid.

3. I think cottage cheese is the most disgusting looking food ever created.

I have a very diverse palate. I’m willing to try almost any food at least once. However, one thing I cannot eat in its natural state is cottage cheese. It just looks disgusting. If it’s thoroughly mixed into a dish, I don’t have a problem with it. But eating plain cottage cheese. It makes me sick just thinking about it.
,br> 4. I hate shopping.

I go to clothing and shoe stores on an as-needed basis. My husband, however, loves to shop. When we were dating, we spent a weekend in New York. One of our nights there, I decided I wanted a shirt other than the ones I had packed to wear to dinner. So, we went to a TJ Maxx or Marshall’s type of store. After I found my shirt, he said he wanted to look at the shoes. I said okay, and followed him back to the shoe section. He then told me that I didn’t have to stick with him, I could go somewhere else. I, again, said okay, and walked to the end of the aisle and took a seat. I took out my phone and began playing on it.

Several minutes later, he walked up to me and started asking where I had been. I just looked at him and said, right here. He got this confused look on his face and then said, you really don’t like to shop. He had expected me to go to the women’s shoe section and look around while I was waiting on him. But, since I didn’t need any shoes, I didn’t look at shoes. He now does all of the shopping for us both.

5. Spiders stalk me.

I think it’s in retaliation for the fact that once when I was in high school, I killed this big spider with a shoe. Then, from under the shoe, I saw millions of baby spiders spread out in all directions. What made the moment even better was that our floor design consisted of black and white tiles in a checkerboard pattern. Whenever the baby spiders congregated on a black tile, they couldn’t be seen. To this day, whenever I go home to visit my parents, spiders make a special appearance. No joke. When I’m not there, they don’t see spiders. When I come home, spiders are everywhere.

Roxal has spent her life using her Dream Traveler ability in service to Trebor’s gods, The Keepers. Even after she learns they aren’t all powerful like she was taught, she dutifully continues to manipulate an Earth woman named Lauren to do their bidding. Roxal’s content pretending to be a loyal follower, until her mate’s activities with a rebel faction put both of their lives in jeopardy.

Meanwhile on Earth, Lauren is struggling to find balance at work and at home. To make matters worse, she develops an acute case of insomnia which disrupts her life. While trying to cure her condition, Lauren discovers that not only do aliens exist, but that she’s been in contact with one for most of her life. And that’s just for starters.

Now Lauren’s world is turned upside down. And Roxal has to figure out if she can harness the survival instincts which before told her to hide and use it to now fight for her survival.

Read an Excerpt:

In the dark, with their sleeping unit’s covering pulled up to their necks, Roxal placed her hands against Edo’s naked stomach and used them to communicate.

What has happened? Roxal asked in the hand signal language Edo had taught her. Why are the Reps looking for traitors now?

I am not sure, exactly. I thought it too dangerous to meet with my Resistor contacts after the assembly. But... he paused during his response.

But what? she prodded.

Roxal, you have always asked that I not give you details because you did not want to get involved. The questions you are asking will get you involved.

This time Roxal paused before answering Edo because he was right. Even after her moment of defiance and after learning their gods were fake, and that her mission with Lauren was a lie, and that she was actually a slave, Roxal had asked him to not give her any details on the activities of the Resistors. She had thought that by not knowing any of the details about the Resistors, she could keep herself safe by denying membership. However, today had shown her otherwise. The sight of the Helper pleading for her life while declaring her innocence had shown Roxal that there was no such thing as being safe.

She finally admitted to herself, that as a slave to The Keepers and the Reps, her life was forfeit from the moment she was created. Appeasing her gods and the Reps could keep her alive. But if they ever decided that she should die, she now knew there was nothing she could say or do to stop it.
